As someone who had a somewhat debilitating health condition, I was told to buck up and focus on what's right since it was all in my head and I just needed to find the willpower to overcome. And it wasn't even a mental health issue. We give way too much importance to idiotic elders and allow them to be arrogant in their ignorance.
