Popular Post Ankit_sharma03
My love for dhoni Seen many cricketers career start and end but this feels different. Still remeber those frustating days of watching parthiv, dk, ratra , deep das gupta, mongia, dighe and the envy to watch australia having someone like gilly. It also wasnt just about a good wkt batsman we also lacked a power player who can come n hit the ball really hard. One afternoon i was watching India A game where this man was hitting sixes brutally against Pakistan A , i wondered who is he. Saw another game from the series where he showed that it wasnt just a fluke and i immediately called a frend and said i think we found our gilly. To this day that footage isnt avl , only way to see it is in dhonis film.....i hope they release it now. And my wait begin for him to debut and finally it happend after few months but with anti climax in bangladesh series which wud have been described by few ICFers- what was all the hype or he is a hack. Credit to ganguly for beileving in him and sending him out at his spot, mind u the guy already pushed himself down for sehwag and was struggling for form in that series so he had more reason not to do that. Had it been kohli dhoni wud have been on bench or playing domesticm . Then came 148 it was an emotion when ur faith comes true. Never before i wanted someone to succeed more and yet to feel like that for someone again. After few months he made 183* which i still consider best odi innings by indian player i have seen. This was all i expected but with dhoni it was all about the unexpected. He did what i never thought will happen again specially growing up n watching cricket in 90s - winning a Wc...specially when no one gave us a chance even myself. There was more to dhoni the flamboyant batsman...there was a leader. A captain who knew how to win tournaments. A shrewd captain who didnt shy away from dropping top players and neither backing a player to hill. The way he controlled an odi game as captain and as batsman was remarkable. He didnt have similar command in other 2 formats but still was decent enough. To captain a side for 10 years that to indian side with all the pressure is remarkable test of character. He still wud be mvp and 1st name for me when it comes to Indian all time great odi side. Always admired him staying away from media and this biterness that his co players are filled in with now which i hope he maintains. He loved being in his space and thats how superstars shud be....there shud always be a mystery and enigma around them. Even though i have been wanting him to retire for long and now that the day has come it still feels sad . Mosher, tweaker, Trichromatic and 11 others 1 3 10 Link to comment

Cricketics
Correct decisiona nd one tthat doesnMt bring much emotions since it came at a time when we already knew. Regarding Dhoni, one of the best from India ever. Like most of his decisions, he kept India and the team ahead of himself. Some work and some don’t. But his heart was in the right place and he without any doubt will remain one of the best captains whicn the world saw on the cricket field. Thank You Dhoni. Enjoy the time. 2007 and 2011 will always be remembered by every cricket fan ofthis generation. Gollum, nevada, coffee_rules and 1 other 2 2 Link to comment
Popular Post maniac
We tend to forget that maintaining something is equally important as creating something. If Saurav Ganguly created that momentum, it was crucial that we had a guy with a calm head on his shoulders to take forward the momentum without messing it up and Dhoni fit that role like a tee. Had someone like Kohli taken over just after that Ganguly era, it would have been a disaster. Special mention to Sachin and also the selectors/BCCI to take a big leap of faith on MSD and boy did he deliver. nevada, beetle, Stan AF and 7 others 4 6 Link to comment
