yes. He focuses on things that people don't otherwise focus on. Very off-beat which is what makes his channel unique.

Yes, and down to earth, relatable to us. Look at some of the videos from TNPL time, no other Indian cricketer will mingle with commoners like that.

Now that Ash is comfy with Hindi, hope to see interviews with Neeraj and Sarpanch saheb.

Also with the Olympiad winning chess players...now that Ash himself is into the game, owning a franchise team with Nakamura as captain.

Ashwin-Svidler combo will be fab. @randomGuy @rangeelaraja @Mariyam @Tillu @Vickydev @Lone Wolf you know about how big a cricket fan Peter Svidler is? He is obsessed with the sport (especially test cricket, and the English team), once in a chess24 commentary stream he wandered off and started talking about domestic players from RSA (before an Eng-RSA series IIRC) I myself didn't know existed :phehe:

Seriously? Sarcasm.

He was in the candidates a few times, 7 times Russian national champ which is a record. Pragg's second in the recent candidates. And commentator par excellence.

No sarcasm.

In all things sports I only follow our teams/players. And our commentators.

The only other chess players I sort of followed were Giri and Nigel Short. But he's stopped making courses/ doing live commentary.

You'll find Svidler's commentary/analysis fun. Give it a try in the future !!!!

@Gollum

Peter Svidler is likely to play in the Global Chess League

Won't follow this event. 20 minutes, no increment....don't like the time control one bit.

Anyway I prefer classical, need commentators to explain the plans, spend some time looking at the position etc.

Rapid has its own charm.

You should watch this. This has Svidler and Ashwin!

Gukesh for the last one year has ruffled a lot of feathers by winning so many matches against the Super GMs. Now so many posters on the chess subreddit are undermining Gukesh against Ding for the world championship. I don't understand if it's the Chinese bots or the westoids posting these comments. For this reason alone I want Gukesh to crush Ding and retire him forever.

I think Ding is just universally liked by all Chess fans, cause of his demeanour and of course how good of a Chess player he is or was and the effect the World Championship has had on him. Genuinely think he was the 2nd best player in Classical after Carlsen around Covid time. He is going in as a massive underdog tbh and everyone loves the underdog.

Of course there are Chinese bots too, And a lot of the negativity regarding Gukesh mostly come from Pakistani chess fans and there are lots of them online. A couple of days back Arjun lost to a 15 yo Turkish prodigy chasing 2800 elo, and the Pak supporters went into overdrive.
