Indian cricket will benefit more if Ashwin provides an alternate POV which challenges popular opinion. Him playing in 100 or BBL won't help Indian cricket in any way, but we need someone freely expressing his thoughts about Indian cricket, not pliant to BCCI/superstars like these Shastris and Chopras. 

 

Also someone who watches/analyzes domestic talent keenly and pushes names of high ceiling hopefuls before a wider audience.

He is talking like a true crick fan rather than ex player. That is why he resonates with many people. He follows cricket like an ordinary cricket fan. He is talking about Sonny Baker. How many ex cricketers know him. He talked about Bethell way before even English hyped him.  His nerdy attitude is reflection of a typical chennai cricket fan

Typical Chennai cricket fans are idiots and cocksuckers. Seen enough of TN based Chuski fans in my life to come to this conclusion.

Not those fans. There is a group called nerdy fans that are beyond CSK. Pre-IPL cricket fans. CSK fans are not reflection of true Chennai cricket fans.

I have been to test and ODI matches in Chepauk, from sitting in normal stands to the boxes. I never observed anything special in them. Sure overseas players may get some applause when they reach a milestone, but that has nothing to do with knowledge. Some of the Eden Gardens fans impressed me, but the general perception is they are a rowdy crowd.

Deep analysis is something you very commonly see from Chepauk fans.School students who would come up with tabulations.  Cricket stats was obsession for me and bro. We grew up in a remote small town far away from chennai. Most of our friends  have same curiosity about stats.
