Lol India bowling..  NZ chased 340 odd vs us recently.  WI too managed to tie 320+ chase in a series..  These are our last two bilateral ODI series results.  We still rely on spinners to take wickets.  We barely take 2-3 wickets in PP.  Even in WC SF that's where we lost.  Dropping in form Shami & playing Bhuvi.

Yes because shami was taking bucket loads of wickets against Afghanistan

Agreed with the rest of your post

What a joke. The team that lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the World Cup and barely scraped through in the Final is being compared to a team that played two full World Cups without losing a game and decimated their opponents in three straight World Cup finals lol.

Australia also scraped through in 1999 at critical stages. The first one always being the toughest in a streak. The floodgates could well open looking at the level of talent England are promoting right now.

They lost against Pak and NZ who were i suppose quite better than current Pak,SL

Thing is they dropped games against minnow level sides and the final win the less said the better

This forum has a weird obsession with FTBs.

England is not comparable to Australia. Australian batsmen weren't just heavy hitters. They were also clutch players in pressure situations (which England aren't) and all-weather players (which England definitely aren't).

They may have their best phase for another 3 odd years . Most of their players are  around 31-34 now  and esp their bowlers where only Jofra is young.

So in the next 3-4  WC tourneys , they have an opportunity for good show .

After that lot of new guys will have to come in pace and spin dept . Are there possible replacements for these guys man to man ?

Don't think so as of now .

But one thing very noticable is that they are preparing themselves for the WC tournaments in slow pitches of India . Game plan is clear and their main focus is on their pace bowlers adapting to SC conditions .

1. Since there will not be much movement , upfront they are going for extreme pace .

2. Improvements in death bowling - They are trying  change of pace  and cutters a lot along with Yorkers and there is quite a bit of improvements in that area. Woakes was poor as death bowler but now mostly manages with change of pace .

3. Adil from ordinary has become better .

4. Their batters have adapted will against spin . Unless pitch favours spin or you have spineers who cannot be read easily , they can maul the spinners .

At least their plan seem to be well defined and are using these matches to achieve their objective .

Hope to see a new management for India team too who will work on first identifying real areas which need improvements , identifying players for spin dept( considering poor show of current spinners in WC 2019) in case they do not improve , finding group of pace bowlers , approach in first power play while bowling and tactics for death bowling , strategy of batting  - esp in first power play .

Based on that new players should be identified and opportunities to be given in next 2 years.

Certainly a contender now for one of the all-time best teams. The ODI/T20 Format needs this team. A primary challenger for all teams in all conditions. They have won most ODI Tournaments except for India where they lost 1-2 in 2017. At present they undoubtedly have the talent coming in but they need to win more crunch games, more multi-nation tourney's and more WC's to be considered in the league of Aussies. The previous two great teams benefited from a lot of multi-nation tourneys, especially Australia who built an all-weather outfit from their Tri-Series held year after year from the late 80s to the late 2000s.

Kudos to their setup & recruiting players from other countries .  They certainly have two good fast bowlers in Archer and Wood and one hopes more coming through. Stokes, Archer and Buttler will be their trump cards along with Morgan. It has to be seen how they do in the next 2 T20 wc's. They need to win at-least one of it to be drawn parallels. They can certainly make new laurels if they win multiple T20 cups like the West Indies have done recently.

A tournament among the top 4 countries every 2 years will be an exciting series though. One serious concern for them is who will be the next captain after Quick Gun Murugan (Eoin Morgan). They have some serious shoes to fill in though.

Those calling Eng mental midgets, which other side since 1999 Aus has won as many must win matches as 2019 Eng on the brink of elimination? And based on how they played the SF/F unfair to call them FTB team.

Yea, how can someone call this side mental midget when they have won a WC and they also won 2010 t20 Wc which the mentally strong aussies still dont have

Morgan is an outstanding captain, here we are stuck with a man-child.

Next WC is in India. So with home advantage we have good chance to win it. Dhoni also made good use of familiar home co ditions to win WC. So the hopes are there given the history. 1983 was different though as Kapil won it in very adverse conditions.
