Stokes won his MVP in 2017 at the same age as Pandya.Pandya is batting at no 6 or 7 because team managements don't feel like he is a top order batsman. Pandya is nowhere near the class of Stokes as a batsman.Yes he is good at no6 or 7 but when you bat at the position your secondary skill becomes very important.His seconday skill is below average at best. He will be asked to bowl almost in every match he plays for India but he might be asked to bat once in three matches.So unless he becomes a batsman who can bowl a bit he will never be an asset to his team long term. Raina went up to batting at no3/no4 and he could roll his arm too but once Kohli who was his junior came into the team he went back to no5 or no6.Kohli became main stay of batting where as Raina remained as an utility player.Is Pandya as good as Raina with Bat either? With MI sure shot to finish one or two, I think they should sent him at no.4 in 2-3 games.
