Someone talk about Meiyazhagan

Happy go lucky movie, sweet story.

It may at times feel stretched, but in totality the story will help us remember the non existent childhood that we grew up with.

Those summer holidays, playing around with cousins, fighting for small cheap candies.

Arvind Swamy as always a formidable actor, Kaarthi at times frankly sounded irritating, but I guess that the issue with dubbing.

Watched Pushpa 2 for last 1 hr and still didn’t miss much. WTF of a movie. Climax action scenes is kind of inspired from Kantara .

I saw few glimpses here and there, couldn't pay full attention.

Looked average.

best Indian movie of 2024 for me. Hands down.

You claim every movie the best movie of the year. Like your enthusiasm. But if I go by your reviews, I will be disappointed. It has happened with a lot of movies (Lucky Bhaskar was ok , not the best movie of last year( . Will take your movie recommendations with a bit of salt.  Reminds me of this guy

The Seed of the Sacred Fig - 10/10

First persian movie that i watched it in theatres.

Malayalam movie kind of thriller set in  politcal/protest background.

Must watch

@Mariyam your irani relatives/friends might have asked you to watch it

ps:-

wifey asked me to give good review in bookmyshow and pvr cinemas

My Iranian relatives are totally westernized.  My brother married a woman of Iranian ethnicity but she is an American through and through. In her speech, mannerisms and even temperament. Her only un-American feature is her intelligence. She is quite sharp and witty. Apart from her questionable choice of a spouse, she has done quite well for herself.

She does not like Iranian cinema. Has never spoken to me about it. She doesn't like Indian cinema much either. That means me and her don't have any common grounds for conversation apart from cribbing about my brother.

Her parents are migrants from Iran and they watch *|Bollywood* movies. Especially the 60s/70s/80s stuff. They love it.

Your brother is street smart.  He has not only cut through the insane Green card queue for Indian passport holders but also married a successful woman.

2 birds, 1 stone.

How was it bro? Hearing good reviews, planning to watch it soon. As good or better than Leo, Jailer, Vettaiyan? Those movies were just about watchable for me in theatre, not an entire waste of time, money. Below that bar, and I may not bother till digital release.

Meiyazhagan is class, one of the most beautiful films I have watched in recent years. From the maker of 96 (Prem Kumar), but this movie is much better IMO.

2024 was a great year for Tamil cinema. Maharaja, Meiyazhagan, Amaran, Lubber Pandhu, Vaazhai. Vettaiyan was good compared to Rajini's recent filmography, you can even watch Thangalaan for the acting.

The movie is good. Less on action.

Not hero centric at all. How a normal family man who gets into unnecessary trouble and he finds his way out of it.

I was generally commenting on his recent recos which failed for me. Like it failed for that Robot movie you recommended. I will definitely watch this as I heard good reviews from others. I like the OTT content from Tamil am Malayalam esp. I didn’t like Viduthalai 1 & 2 , only for its commie laal salaam content. Hate any Dravidian/Periyar agenda pushed through movies.  Asuran/Raavanan had classist struggles. Good cinema as it is the reality in India.

Not the movie. But watched Disney Lion King at the hollywood bowl.  Since i like all the songs i enjoyed it except the one where Kim kardashian's daughter come as Simba and totally ruined it. Cannot believe they let her sing with so many young talented kids available. I liked all the other songs. Nostalgic and pretty entertaining. Always a big fan of Jeremy irons portrayal of Scar. Most of them were performed by original singers.

Yes It is. The movie is a philosophical debate.

That debate of "who is happier?" Also on "what life is better?"

Is it that hard working/materialistic urbanite or that  rooted/relaxed son of the soil?

For some people exploring such thread can be stressful. As they are mostly resigned to one of the silos.
