Guys please recommend some great shows-> thriller/mystery/horror/historical/legal/fantasy/sci-fi/political/crime drama etc. fine by me, (and not sitcoms or those 5-6 hours long mini-series, not in the mood for that). Want to watch shows like these, 50+ hours long so that I can binge-watch for 3-4 weeks minimum. Also have 'The Americans' and 'The Shield', @Jimmy Cliff you have watched both IIRC? Which one is better, more addictive? The Shield is exceptional from start to finish. Recently watched The Outsider which started off well but tailed off towards the end. Rewatching Battlestar Galatica - best sci-fi for decades. Others worth a watch include: Ozark, The Expanse, Succession, Gomorra. A lot of violence and sleazy, not so believable, but watchable. Not as good as Homeland the espionage series. Bosch is a good crime/detective series. I liked The Americans for the performances by the leads but The Shield is at a different level. It is the kinda raw no holds barred police procedural that is simply not gonna be made in the woke era. Also features one of the ATG anti-heroes in Vic Mackey.

maniac
Sorrarai potturu, saw the Telugu version on Amazon. Decent biopic but the guy on whom the biopic is based is a Brahmin but South Cinema makes him a lower caste crusader and takes a couple of digs at Brahmins No problem with creative liberties but Bollywood and Indian cinema in general seem to make “convenient” changes to fit a certain agenda. At least keep biopics closer to reality. saik and Gollum 1

Came to Karnataka/Mysore area and living here for more than 200 years. They mostly came here as priests for Balaji / Narasimha / Vishnu temples, Driven out by caste strifes in TN, by shaivites (Iyer) mainly. You have posted about the Mandya Iyengars of Melkote in the Tipu Sultan thread. Also a lot of Hebbar Iyengars are living in Mysore areas. They speak funny Kannadaized Tamil at home (o have a few friends) , but a lot of Kannada writers, novelists are Iyengars. You might have also heard about Gnanpith awardee Masti Venkatesh Iyengar also. maniac
*correction not a decent biopic but should have said decently engaging Masala movie. Not a classic by any means but given the crap we get these days from commercial Indian movies with big stars, a decent timepass movie to watch on a streaming service. Watched and stopped after 30 mins. It is a biopic, based on Capt Gopinath Iyengar’s book. Why do they change the story? He had immense respect for his dad a school teacher, it was cringeworthy direction woth weird dances and dialogues, with the feminism angle thrusted in. I didn’t see any Brahmin hate, but sorry had enough of this nonsense.

Stan AF
The Haunting of Hill House - Beautiful execution. Just too damn good story and acting and everything :not worthy: Special mentions to the Tall Man, Mr Smiley and the bent neck lady. Just fantastic. All the kid actors and the adult ones are just really too good.
