We need to put some younger players with a younger captain at charge. The only name I can come up with is HaPa. more than a decade ago, Dravid convinced the other two greats to step down from t20 and leave it to youth and we won the cup. At that time, Dravid was 34. Kohli is 32 and not performing upto mark in t20s. rohit is 34 dhwan 35. make pandya captain and leave a set of youngsters with him

like this idea.. doesnt matter if we lose a few.. we will definitely do better than second rung countries, and who knows, might even surprise top teams if the kids decide to play "fearlessly"!

IPL is a domestic tourney. Internationals is where it matters. Kohli's done better in internationals than in IPL, which is the way it should be.

FYI, IPL is the toughest/most competitive T20 tournament after the T20 WC, involving 8 teams w/ some of the best talents from around the world.

Runs scored in relatively pointless bilaterals (playing the same opponent over a period)  where teams may not even play their best 11 at times (Teams tend to play their strongest 11s in T20 WC) do not carry a high weightage.

It's a domestic tournament with many domestic players that still aren't ready for international cricket. Same goes for every other domestic T20 league. Kohli has had average seasons and then gone on to score big runs in internationals, so no point harping on IPL numbers like they mean a lot.

Kohli was the highest scorer in the last World T20 and the highest scorer for India in T20Is over the past year. The case for teams not playing their best XIs can be made in matches against the likes of Sri Lanka and Pakistan, not India.

a) IPL #s do mean a lot as it is a premier T20 event over meaningless bilaterals

b) “past” records duh

I think I have made my point more than enough.

There are umpteen instance of players backing out of bilaterals so that they can play in the IPL.

Tells you where IPL stands in the general scheme of events. More $ involved necessarily means more quality.

After T20 WC, IPL is the most important/relevant T 20 tournament in the world.
