Mariyam
@Gollum While I am hardly any authority on the topic, but the NE states have a long way to go before they can host an IPL side. Lets overlook the obvious problem that the IPL and cricket in general has little to no traction in most of the NE (barring tracts of Assam). There has to be decent connectivity for the fans and the teams. Even today, Mumbai to Guwahati ( biggest of the cities in the region) route has limited direct flights. Most are via Kolkata. Think of the plain logistical difficulty if transporting teams/fans if you have stop overs etc. You are going to lose a large part of your day travelling. Re: the Tribal belt, do they even have a population base to sustain interest? In general, the idea of the IPL is that it should be a self sustaining easy to market tournament. Much rather include teams from areas where IPL can be sold easily and franchises can make $ instead of forcibly trying to make it as a tool of some kind of quasi national integration. If it means adding more teams from Mah, TN, Guj, Punjab then that's that. If the folks in the NE don't like cricket, so be it. Let us accept that. Let the growth of the sport there be organic instead of artificially infusing the region with a IPL team steroid. Gollum
