Truth is NZ with these micky mouse 2 test series in which they limit their injuries have gamed the system

not true, they faced lot of injuries too.

Boult was injured for pink ball test and Lockie injured mid game and haven't played since. Kane was injured for 3rd test in aus and also didn't play second test in WI due to birth of his kid. Grand homme missed all 4 tests against WI and Pk.. Wagner was injured and didn't play in first match against Indian and second match against Pak

Or saffers can beat Aussies?
They absolutely can. This Aussie batting lineup is dog $hit barring Smith and Labu. If Rabada finds his rhythm and gets some support from Nortje, Mulder ,Ngidi..... they can tame them easily. Also Aussies would still be scarred from the whole sandpaper saga last time around.

But SAF batting is piss awful and against this Australian attack....don't think they've got much to give.

The AUS / SA series isn't even listed on the icc website as a future fixture.  I think the Gabba test is it for AUS in this iteration of the WTC.

they still haven't finalized where to play the series. Its supposed to happen in SA, but since Aus is in better covid situation there are talks going on about shifting it to Aus. Ironically shifting it to aus might be worse for aussies since sa won their last 3 series in aus

This is not just a sharp reflection on the "points per series played" metric that was brought in once the WTC schedule was ravaged by Covid-19, but also a marker of how - against a severely under-manned India - a nominally full-strength team have plateaued rather than flourished. A 3-1 series margin over India would have meant that a 1-2 series loss to South Africa would have been sufficient to ensure a place in the final.

Instead, another determined show from India to get a draw at the Gabba would mean that the Australians require at least a 2-1 margin against South Africa over three Tests away from home to guarantee their place in the final.

Even a dominant performance over the next three days - weather permitting - to emerge victorious in the Border-Gavaskar series would still mean Australia would most likely need to avoid a series loss in South Africa, with draws being worth more than defeats. It is a series currently the subject of vigorous discussion between Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa, given the deteriorating coronavirus situation in South Africa.

It would be hard to justify moving the series considering Sri Lanka just played a series in SA.

Eng, Aus, NZ will always have an advantage since they play minnows Pak every cycle. Easy 120 pts at home esp for NZ, Aus.

well we can only blame ourselves (bcci/indian govt) for this. We have great opportunity to improve the H2H record and statpad our players away record.. even nationalists should be happy that indian team can thrash pakistan team and make their whole fanbase seethe.. yet for some petty reason refuse to play with them. now they are even pulling out from the asian cup

NZ making it to WTC will be a tragedy. They don't deserve it one bit. India if it has to win 4-0 against England is no easy task.

So the team that NZ whitewashed in convincing fashion last season does deserve it?  I think the final will be AUS / IND, but if NZ get in they certainly do deserve it.

What away series have they won? India also have white washed NZ at home that too in three test series. With India they seem to preprare these dicey pitches , they beat Indians fair and square but if it was 4 test series India might have done better.

What will happen if this test ends in a draw? What are India's options for next series. We still don't know if Australian series against SA will happen.

Just say it happens. Do you believe saffers can beat Aussies? I do think they can on bouncy wickets however they seem to play better in Australia compared to South Africa for some reason when they vs Aussies.

Missing Bhuvi, Ishant in second test, no jaddu and Ashwin together for balance and no Gill who outperformed cute chubby Shaw in A games plus no brohit made a huge difference.

I doubt whether n.z can beat our full strength team with all the players mentioned above. Besides we dint even play tour matches for practice. We went straight from odi to tests. We also overplayed bumrah and Shami by letting them play Almost All games before test series. Why?
