Our overseas specialist, this is the guy who averaged 50 overseas after the completion of first tour.

He gets to bat at the easiest batting conditions and still doesn't score enough. The worst investment of all-time.

I will let this thread do the talking as I guess a lot of us are equally frustrated on Rahane. If he has any shame, he must hit atleast two centuries in this series.

Bro.  To be honest, I chose my username based on our TM's investment on this malnourished so called karate *****. His long fluky career is based on the lone match winning century he played at Lords way back in 2014. That inning actually screwed us for a long time. And still continues.........

ganguly was a  odi legend and had to play tons of odi matches along with test meant he had a more hectic schedule and had switch quickly to the other format  .

Also the added pressure of captaincy .

well said .... despite all these added burdens, Ganguly averaged the same. More over he  made the life of other right hander  at the crease more comfortable.

This midget has none of these.

you were  saying that Rahane was  no lesser a batsman compared to Sourav.  Sourav averaged almost same despite having added pressures . And him being a left hander , right handed batsman at the other end crease too could benefit.

Ganguly avg in 30s during peak phase of his career. How was he better than someone who avg mid 40 most of the time?

I used to like rahane a lot and he did play some splendid knocks in the WC 15 as well but dont know what happened to him in the last 3 years ,he has regressed so bad !

He has to be stripped of the VC

Age has caught up with him. Time to move on.

Mid 40s most of the time ? Rahane averaged high 40s ,mid 40s for the first 4 years ,same as Ganguly .since 2017 I think Rahane is averaging less than 44 (overall test avg ) ,now its 42 same as Ganguly ,wait for 2 more years and see if the chart dips further or goes up

going by cricinfo, Saurav's cumulative  average never fell below 40 at any moment of his career.

That's what. He had good first year and then it always hovered around 40 as cumulative.

Additionally post 2013 has been relatively difficult for batsmen. 2002-2008 (upto 2012) was absolute patta phase.

None of England tour of Ganguly were like 2014 or 2018 series.

Rahane is better batsman than Ganguly in tests.

Rahane has been mostly around mid 40s most of his career.

Rahane is far better batsman than Ganguly in tests.

Nonsense, Rahane is a poor soft man version of Ganguly. A terrible terrible cricketer who is not a specialist in anything. An average of 37 outside minnows tells how smokingly mediocre this guy is.

You are insulting Saurav Ganguly by bringing him over here. Rahane is the most trash Indian batsman of all-time. He has been as terrible as anyone in last five years.

As a cricketer Ganguly was far superior than Rahane. Great captain, good in ODIs, could bowl also.

Rahane is one dimensional. Even as batsman overall Ganguly easily better than Rahane. There is no comparison.

But there is nothing to suggest that Ganguly was better batsman than Rahane in tests.

There is no insult in comparing them as test batsman which is title of the thread.

Bahane averages a dismal 37 excluding minnows. He is a much more terrible batsman than you think of. Don't be delusional. He has no impact to India's success away or home since 2015. Absolutely impactless.

Where did I say that he is any good?

He is useless, but still overall better test batsman than Ganguly.

I figured out this guy in 2015. Everyone here was still saying that he is good, just hasn't been given proper chance. Lol. You fools, sometimes all it takes is 2-3 moments to figure out the pretenders.

Half of my posts on this forum are about throwing him for good.

The thing is that slowly he is being discarded and relegated to the sidelines from all formats. First t20, then Odi and then IPL.

People will forget about the dropped catches, but no one will forget THAT run out. It completely changed the game.

Now, he is supposed to captain the rest of the series with that run out in mind and the phainty in 2nd innings. Team morale is completely down after this shambolic test. No way they recover from this. 4-0 and more shambolic performances from him and team is on the cards.

I am 101% sure that the fall guy of this series will be rahane. Take it in writing.

I will root for 4-0 if Rahane is removed forever. What's your opinion on Shaw? I agree it only takes 2-3 months to realise the value of a player many times. For me, Shaw obviously can't play the incoming ball and is a bit loose, but he is supremely talented and should get time to correct this problem. It's not even the century he made at home or the 50 versus NZ, but the manner of his runs. He plays effortlessly all round the park and a lovely straight drive and cut.  Lets hope he resolves this massive flaw as he also scores quick. I really like him, rare breed.
