Hard to tell anything about shaw. Need a large sample size. He needs to make his debut in other formats as well to get a proper reading.

I also liked rahane when he made his debut and was a defender. Slowly, I realized that he was a fraud. 2015 I saw it. 2016 solidified it.

At this point dropping Rahane will be an even bigger disaster. Are we aiming for less than 36 next game?

 

Yes Rahane is useless but based on the events of the past 12 hours, there aren’t too many better than him either.

Except his performances in England, Ganguly has nothing over Rahane. Even those 100s in England came against Lewis, Mullaly, Ronnie Irani on relatively batting friendly conditions when teams scored 400-500 or even 600. Rahane batted in bowling friendly conditions in 2014 and 2018 against greatest English attack ever.

 

Australia, SA, NZ - alll were bolwing friendly conditions except 2014 Aus series. 

 

Ganguly's 144 was gutsy knock, but quality of bowling and conditons were nowhere comparable to this.

 

Lesser number of runs, lower average, lesser number of 100s, lesser 50s, more ducks, Ganguly's 5 overseas 100 v Rahane's 8. Home 

 

No way Ganguly was better batsman than Rahane.

 

His impression as captain and ODI batsman may give an illusion that he was some sort of great in test, but he wasn't.

4 tons, Average of 36. Averaging 76 and 90 in SL and Windies but less than 35 everywhere else including India.
