Muhammad Rizwan - How do you rate him in test cricket ?

Again bringing Pujara into everything..  Can Pujara play Azhar Ali like inn in CT17? Can he bat like Rizwan?  I think stroke making is not Pujara's game..  He is single guy I have watched whose even cover drive is too ugly.  He has a complete different playbook.  People compare him to Dravid but Dravid was a good strokemaker & had the gift of timing.  Pujara is dead bat.
Why are you bringing up ODI knocks here?

Have you watched Azhar Ali play in Test cricket? He's a grinder just like Pujara who will be 20(75) more often than not. I am not talking about their grace or optics but their scoring rates in Test cricket.

Also my bad....I didn't think Rizwan bats in the top6 as he's a wk. But yeah except him and Babar (when he comes back), Pak batting line up is a tuk tuk galore with players of minimum stroke making ability. Masood, Azhar, Shafiq, Fawad, Abid......are all in the mould of Pujara/Vihari than Kohli/Mayank/Rahul....

II think there is nobody in the world like Pujara...  Couple of years ago when he was playing in County,  players said he was struggling to put ball out of the circle even.  He has terrible timing & the reason he misses too many half volleys that likes of Dravid will put away in his sleep.  Still he finds a way somehow but now is struggling for 2 years.

Kohli Mayank & Rahul all are gifted Stroke makers..  Rahul is obviously better than both of them in stroke making ability.

Shafiq is out of Pak test team..  so no point in talking about him..  Though I do suggest watch his Inn at Gabba in Pink ball test 2016.. That's not how a grafter plays..  But he is a grafter according to Pakistani tullabaazi tradition.

Azhar Ali again is a proper test player..  But no Pujara..  I watched his recent ton in England & he played plenty of drives & square cuts.  Proper test player but way past his peak.

Babar is dynamic,  So is Rizwan.  This Uncle Abid was playing ODIs for Pakistan not long back & scored a ton.  So they do have shots but they are choosing to play tuk tuk & have a reasonable defence against seam bowling but will struggle with high bounce of Aus SAF coz of maybe reflexes & inability.

In terms of Stroke making here are the rankings of three Asian teams in all conditions.

SL

India

Pakistan

Pujara is probably worst stroke maker I have watched in at least last 20 years.  He is a dead bat kinda guy & there is nobody like him.  Even our Test specialist guys like Jaffer,  Mukund had some good stroke making ability.

Very very good player. Rate him highly.

Rizwan

Babar

Shaheen

Hasan

Faheem

These are their best players.

Faheem is basically a bits and pieces player. Supposed to be a bowling allrounder , has been a failure for 4 years, lately has scored some runs, most likely a flash in the pan, useless bowler. Others are good.

Dare I say he will win more games for Pak than Babar..  Already he opened in Two T20s & won them the games.  Recent test as well.

But I expect Pak to screw him soon by playing hacks & more jazba players who will falter on Int'l stage.  As an Indian Rizwan is the most crucial wicket in Pak team I think.

He's truly world class. Don't follow their phateechar league but he's incredibly consistent in internationals too. And on top of that, he's a brilliant keeper.

Has replaced Shaheen afridi as the second (among the only two) world class player in the Poyzz side. After a good start, Afridi has now Beck barrel above average.

They are actually destroying Shaheen by constantly overloading the poor guy.  He plays every single game for them non stop.  There is a stat where he has bowled most overs by a quick bowler since 2016 & dude made his debut in late 2018 lol.  I won't be surprised if he breaks down soon.

MVP of their test side, he is overrated in white ball cricket. But in the ultimate format, worth his weight in gold. Better than Babar, Shaheen, Azhar Ali.

Is this the best era when it comes to keepers?

Since circa 2014 we have seen (across formats): BMac, Kock, Pant, Watling, Rizwan, Buttler, Mushfiqur, Chandimal, Saha, Dowrich, Paine, KLR, Bairstow....even Dickwella/Pooran/Liton have potential to take their game to the next level.

He is a complete package,as you said their MVP, consistent performer , seldomly fails, yes very underrated, but i see him as a complete athelete ,no format seems his weakness, performs whichever format you play him in

He is arguably Pakistan's best WK batsman ever
