Have you seen the pics of the Gabbatoir? Filled with grass - we dont need another Spinner. Nattu is perhaps the better choice as Thakur just does not have the x factor. Whoever suggested we pick Shaw needs to have a serious word with themselves.

Konsi Ghaas??  It is a standard Gabba pitch with a tinge of Green.  It will sure have bounce though.  Good batting surface overall.

Oh ... Got it.  Maybe we on ICF are just dreaming and there is some rule that players who were not in the original XVI cannot play.  But then, how is Natarajan a possibility?  We shall see.

There is no rule nor there was any such ever. When Chetan Sharma was injured after first test win Madan Lal who was playing in league cricket in 1986 was selected over Manoj Prabhakar who was member of the squad.  Prabhakar always hated Kapil Dev.

Time for some unorthodox thinking. We should be aiming for a draw at gabba and it’s supposed to rain most of the time - so fill the lineup with 9 batsmen and get them to bowl part time.

I don’t think there are 9 fit batsman available in the squad

That’s the strongest batting X1 line up you can assemble with what’s available. That’s not way too off from the final X1 that will play anyways.

Rohit

Gill

Shaw

Pujara

Rahane

Pant (also half fit)

Saha (keeper bat)

Ashwin (doubtful)

Thakur (bowling allrounder)

Sundar (there as a net bowler so if they want to him get in to the side)

Saini/Kuldeep (depending on who you rate better)

Just add Siraj and Natarajan to the above mentioned names and that’s about it. Mayank and Bumrah are injured even though still some speculation about Bumrah making it.

Ok

So i would then go with:

Rohit

Gill

Pujara

Rahane

Mayank

Saha

Pant/Vihari ( whoever is fitter - seems like vihari coz its his hamstring. man can stand and try to do blockathon)

Sundar

Yadav

Siraj

Saini

Pant is fit to bat

Vihari out for more than 45 days.

Mayank is injured.

Can't go with 2 pacers in Brisbane.

A washout is far from confirmed.

Won't take chance with injured guys, last thing we want us to play with 9-10 member strong team after 1st session, so Boom, Ash, Mayank sit out. Let Pant focus only on batting, Super Saha can keep since with a weaker bowling attack we don't want chances going down especially if batsmen in question are of the class of Warner/Labu/Smith, moreover doubt Pant has recovered in 3 days time.

Gill

Rohit

Che

Rahane

Pant

Saha

Sundar

Thakur

Kuldeep

Siraj

Saini

Hoping that under Rahane, Saha can bat much better, he has a couple of 30s in Aus previously...IMO he isn't inferior to Vihari though that blockathon was once in a lifetime achievement. 5 bowling options, Sundar/Thakur/Kuly can score combined 50-60 runs so there's that.

**** team I know but who else do we have? Hoping against hope that somehow Ashwin regains full fitness, him in place of Sundar can make this side less of a joke.

Pray that we bat first and someone in top 5 gets a big 100. We also need Indra as ally here.
