Do England have a chance of beating India in India?

Pant should be given full home series, no way he is going to improve magically in keeping against Ash-Jaddu by warming bench. Him not getting a place in SA home series was biggest blunder. Either give him place or drop him from squad altogether giving clear instruction to improve him keeping. This keeping him in the squad and then not picking him and then giving excuses about his keeping isnt going anywhere.

So does Iyer then. He is an even better bat than Pandya in sub continent when it comes to consistency.

no he isnt Aussies exposed his short ball problem at home, even in IPL woakes have bounced him out and unadkat in domestic . They will bring archer

Neways iyer isnt even a test prospect

Even Pandya is not a reliable test prospect if not bowling. He will smash few sixes for sure but nothingg so far says he will sustain it consistently with an average around 40. Purely going by first class record Pandya lags Iyer as a batsman in subcontinent.

wo khela kitna hai , u cant judge someone unless he plays for long and u invest in him. All he has played in Eng n Sa where our main batsman have struggled.

Pandya hasnt played much FC so how can we judge. Anyways its irrelevant as both have played in international so we knw what they have. Iyer is a waste of investment in test if he cant play short ball .

Dhawan n rohit have played Fc, Pandya has 50s in Sa n ENG n those 2 till date after 2 tours dont so its no point bringing Fc now

I don't worry about our home batting at all. We have tonnes of HTBs. Watch Sharma, Kohli & co. smash England to oblivion.

Aus is the only team currently that has the bowlers to trouble Indian batsmen at home.

Though I would like to see how archer does. Extreme pace at good channel may work.

Bangladesh bowling made Rohit Bradman look like a Tailender so Tailunt has still his task cut out.  I am expecting Gill to have a monster series.

To be fair, conditions were helpful for swing and seam. I was present at the ground during the pink ball test when 15 plus wickets fell. You literally cannot see the ball at pace as a spectator during the twilight part. Very difficult to settle your eyes in. If the new ball does not do much at chennai, rohit can own eng in 1st innings. This does not mean he is going to become a great test opener. We must manipulate everything for a final berth. Exploiting opposition weakness with low and slow turners and using FTBS should be part of that.

I am not sure he will be a great Test opener at 34 but he'll do a great job if he does well for us in this Calendar year.  I hope England get smashed as well..  We need to reach the Final one way or another.

Not too sure about beating Ind (due to the possibilities of playing a few games on rank turners) at the series level, but can definitely fight to win a test (pink ball test is a good bet) or draw the series

rank turners are usually lottery. That is usually SENA countries best bet against India. I don’t know if Rashid plays in tests but Moeen Ai is not a bad bowler, if England pick some mystery spinner that we have not seen before, it can be problem as our batting is not as good on turners as they used to be.

Broad  outside of pink test might be a liability though. Anderson will still trouble openers with the new ball on any pitch even if we play on Sahara desert.

Their batting is not as effective on rank turners. If the pace bowlers click, they seem to do better .... Since 1980

Apart from pink ball test, rank turner is their best bet since it reduces the gap in quality of spinners/batsmen between both sides. Just like how our famous test victories in SENA in 2000s were mostly on pitches with plenty of assistance for quicks. In traditional Indian conditions they will be ground down to pulp. Unfortunately for them we don't use rank turners much, maybe 5-6 per decade. That number will further come down with emergence of such a kickass pace bowling unit.

Pink ball vs Anderson/Broad/Woakes  won’t be fun

Should have stuck to traditional tests since WTC final spot is on the line. Anyway I hate this gimmick, luck plays a huge role depending on who is batting during twilight phase.
