express bowling
Ravi has always had a good cricketing brain. He understands what is needed in international cricket. Plus he is a very positive person and this rubs off on the whole team. Plus he is a good man manager. Plus he provides us with endless mirth with the bewda jokes that we crack. I hope Ravi stays on as a coach for a few years. nitinbwj, Vijy and AuxiliA 1 1 1 Link to comment

putrevus
He is better coach than any foreign coach we had ,he has built a team which has competed in all conditions. He was instrumental in getting Arun into the staff which has helped bowling a lot. But this team has failed in big matches also under his watch. He has to win tournments and take the next step in sustaining the excellence. I don't know if he will last that long. Link to comment
rangeelaraja
Ravi is a prime example of how positivity and attitude can make up for many deficiencies. He was one of the least talented cricketers to play for India. Yet as an "all-rounder" he scored 11 test tons to Kapil's mere 8 against some really good bowling ( even though Kapil played a little less than twice the number of tests as Ravi ) Most people would say that Kapil's talent with the bat was on another planet compared to Ravi. Ravi is an awesome go getter. Link to comment

He has not been afraid to fail , by chosing guy Dhawan over Rahul in SA. Did he make some selection mistakes yes, he did ,he also made this team competitive in all conditions.Bigger question needs to be asked is Indian system generating good enough batsmen.Where are the batsmen in last decade. Kohli/Sharma came in before 2010 and Gill now. Shastri was mocked and called all sorts of names. Now the team is not even competitive.I repeat is the system generating talented batsmen.IPL and all not nonsense is not going to guarantee anything. Link to comment

Frustrated
In ODIs, our record under shastri was also miserable in SENA. Take out that 5-1 win over SA,. We hv lost odi series everywhere else. Loss in Eng (1-2), NZ (0-3 whitewash) and Aus (1-2, being latest) Link to comment

Only Asian team to do that in such a shiot time... Check stats. T20 series win in every SENA nation as well. AuxiliA, anish2tweet and Vijy 1 2 Link to comment
AuxiliA
Shastri's coaching track record, minus the knockouts was actually great. Never in it's history was an Indian team (or any Asian team) so consistent. The fault of knockout losses lies more on the players, especially the senior ones. putrevus 1 Link to comment
putrevus
Bharat Arun has been unsung hero for this team.He will be missed more than Shastri.Guy like Shami refused to give his coach any credit and let us see how long will will he last.Shastri fought over popular public opinion , everyone wanted Zak to be the bowling coach and Shastri said nothing doing. Our great Dravid walks in and does he bring any of his coaches with him. SandeepMotta and AuxiliA 2 Link to comment
