Having a good opening pair in tests for 3 years is not bad. Shaw can sort out his technical issues and get ready by then. Or maybe Padikkal. Link to comment

kubrickian
He will probably end up as ATG ODI batsman but he will likely never make it in tests. Doesnt seem to have the temperament for it. At home, will plunder runs against spinners who wont do jack with SG ball, but overseas will always be a liability. Hopefully, we find a lefty opener with good temperament and technique. maniac
Rest of the team scores 15 odd runs the other guy almost scores an attacking 50 singlehandedly amidst all the plodding and blocking and gets some momentum and avoid the dreaded 36, finally gets caught up in the method and gets the blame. Lets see how soon before the 2 of them between themselves get to 44 runs. We shouldn’t be playing for a draw already. Watch the game with an open mind. I don't care if he wins us a WC. And f@ck his IPL victories. Series to play for, decisive innings, whole Indian team is giving it their all within whatever talent they have Good batting pitch. He has a wealth of experience, is senior in a team that is desperate for his leadership. He is batting well. He needs to show the responsibility to take us across the line, draw or win. And he plays a shot you wouldn't expect from a rookie playing their first Test. Rohit Sharma - you're just a punk. Link to comment

Suhaan
Rohit nudges, cuts, pulls, flicks in odi cricket, takes his time Wonder what had happened today?good strip, had no trouble whatsoever, plays a ridiculous shot after cutting Lyon for a 4 I thought , even if he plays 40% of odi game,he would have made a big score, alas it didn't happen Link to comment
Prabhdeep Singh
Yes it was a poor shot however he is definitely more accomplished then the rest of the Batsmen currently playing. He has improved his technique, it is also his first series overseas as Test Opener. He is seeing off the new ball while also scoring runs. So far he is averaging 40 in the series which is not bad. His thinking was correct but execution was poor. You can't just block balls and allow bowler to settle, there are certain times when you play dot ball like in SCG 4th inning but not in 1st innings of a test match. He probably has 3 years left, he and Gill look a stable opening partnership for the foreseeable future and should be persisted with. Scoring runs at home is also a skill which should not be frowned upon. maniac 1 Link to comment

In ODIs he struggles to pick leggies sometimes. He manages singles there as field is opened up. Here he struggles big time. So he has two options to hit or block. But the problem is he's not picking right balls to do that. Edited January 16, 2021 by Lone Wolf Link to comment
Gambit
Pack it up boys. This guy’s test career is done. No point investing in an almost 34 year old now. Lyon has owned him. He played the exact same shot in Adelaide last tour and gave away his wicket last test also. beetle 1 Link to comment

Serpico
It is a disgusting way to get out, but he did outscore 3 other openers in the match. Maybe he'll come good in second innings (if there is a second) But it's also great chance for Mayank to make his case here. If he can get a 100 in this innings, he should be considered for home series Link to comment
