What type of shot was that from Rohit Sharma?

Recommended Posts

His overconfidence has always cost him. With 2 fielders near the rope, he chose to try to hit a six over their heads.

Even in ODIs, he used to throw away his wicket like this at the start but got more selective. But in ODIs, you can get away with some of these shots as bowling is not really that good and not much in the pitch for bowlers.

The sad part is that  .... for the first time in his career, Rohit is looking technically equipped to handle good channel balls in SENA.

If he can channel his mind to bat a long innings, like he does in tests in India, it can be such a big plus.

1. Gill

2. Rohit

3. Pujara

4. Kohli

5. Pant

6. ????

7. Jadeja

is looking like a good test batting line-up.

Vihari??? He is good.

That was one of the worst cricketing shot , I have ever seen. He has a brain fade at that moment, just like it happened in last match when he took on the short ball to hit a six. He doesn't have any match awareness and he is our VC. What a farce.

Same happened in first test adelaide in 2018! Thankfully we won that match

On another note 87 overs yesterday 55 overs today ie 142 overs.  We have already lost 36 overs with a 50 perc rain forecast today. Unless India royally screws up tomorrow i dont see any reason this shouldnt be a draw. Pretty grim forecast for Monday at least. 20 mm of rain.

Test reject continues to demonstrates his competency in Test.cricket, I mean no competency.

Now the fatty will play in India, score a couple of 100s, his PR will go in overdrive and tubster will be picked for England away series.

And we all know this fatty can't play swing to save his life even. The most privileged Indian cricketer in recent history.

Tbf his stability at the top has ensured we don't start every innings 0/1 or 1/2 - no fan of RGS in tests but you have to take what's on offer, on current form he's probably the second best opener we have after Gill. If he's doing something similar he might even play the next set of overseas tours, for England series I'd pick him over any of MA or PS at home. We need to pulverize every inch of their spirit/body if we're to get through to the WTC finals!

Right now he deserves his opening spot...Mayank/Shaw are mentally shot with their technical flaws exposed.

Anyway we have a habit of gifting Lyon cheap wickets, nothing new. Check last series, 1/3rd of Lyon's wickets were us holing out to deep, many of them full-tosses and long hops.

He played similar careless shot in mid-30s during that England tour-2014. Even that time Sunny Ji and many experts were fuming, he was dropped after that just to play again at adelaide to get dropped again. The guy plays out PP in ODIs as he has all the time in world but throws it away in tests. Man is an enigma. Cant understand really his problem.

Mayank has a once in a lifetime opportunity now..  If he does scores a match saving ton or heck a 80 odd here.  Rohit may find himself in serious trouble.  A ton would be enough for him to be a guaranteed opener in home series.  Very very vital inns for his career.  Can he deliver the killer blow to Rohit's test dreams:om:

A certain Karun nair after making 300 cudnt do that , no chance mayank will do that after making a 100 in middle order

Nope he can..  A ton at Gabba against all odds would more likely do it.  Away knocks carry more pedigree.  Believe it or not if Rohit fails again in 2nd inns & Agarwal manages a ton in either of the inns..  Rohit would be fighting with Gill for that spot.  Gavaskar has already bashed him.  Media will also back Mayank.  Mayank's ton would be highly celebrated (if he scores)  considering the opposition circumstances & venue.   Once Kohli returns,  Rahane will be Vc & Rohit will not be an automatic pick anymore.
