Make Pant open in ODI , if he fails then give him no.4 ...dont waste him anymore

Recommended Posts

Its not who he is , what needs to be seen is  -is he in form and is he performing . Be it Pant , Virat or Gill . Only leeway is , in case of proven class players /Greats they are persisted for longer period as they can turn it around any time with one good match . For youngsters rope given would not be that long.

If a player is not performing and has some weaknesses which being exploited , he should be released from Team and made to iron out and conquer his weaknesses and start performing . What is needed is the encouragement by TM by keeping him in the loop and draw out a plan and check if he has  overcome his weaknesses and also evaluate at which position the best can be extracted from that player.

If someone  proves that he has it in him to be a really good at top level but performances are not coming .. do not start givinig gaalis , Accept that he needs to be sent to get things right and may be after some months he can come back if has worked on his game .

Nowadays teams try to exploit even a small weakness that one has to be countering them very quickly almost during the series itself . Plus each batsmen has some traits with bastman ship. Some one good at back foot play , some one against short stuff , some one vs spin while in some areas they may be ok ish. It takes time & experience to overcome these different challenges and generally takes nearly 4-5 years of hard work and experience  .

As an example if Gill does not perform well in England , does not mean he should be trolled no end and want to be thrown out .

Only those who do not have good understanding of the game would do that .

Players like Pant, Gill , Shaw ,KL, Siraj, Sundar, Mavi, Tyagi, Kuldeep , Porel to  name a few are such players who need constant backing  even when they are not in the team

. When they add more skills to existing talent to get more rounded , you get  an exceptional player.
