2023 Our Best Chance to win World Cup ?

I think 2023 is not going to be as good a chance as 2019 was.

We had peak Bumrah - a guy who essentially shuts down 10 overs, we had peak KulCha, guys who ruled the middle overs.  Oh and add Bhuvi, Shami to the mix.

This was the best bowling unit India has had in this century, maybe even longer.  And the batting resources had prime Rohit and prime Kohli, both India ODI ATGs already.  And we had a bunch of quality batsmen around them.

The problem was the utter mismanagement of resources by our team, that led to the sad underachievement in 2019.  2023 is a long way away, and to expect that level of dominance in Asian conditions is no given.

Too early to say at this point. But my gut says 2023 is going to break the sequence of host teams winning the WC.

The problem was middle order. How can you miss that.
England had a proper team
Good Fast bowlers, a good spinner and ATG batting lineup

Yes its home conditions, we have the team but but but under kohli neither us or RCB aint winning a tittle .

Give Rohit captaincy ill give us the biggest chance

Giving captaincy to Rohit will be a step in the backward direction.
He is already 34 and there are chances that he might become. a burden when he turns 36 like many other legends.
Bumrah will be a better option.

thats an anticipation that he ll go bad by 36 not certainty . He is the best white ball captain in india currently so why not

That's not an anticipation, its a trend which has been proved right 95% of the times.
Do you want a non performer to captain this side?
Also Rohit relies a lot on power hitting after making 50 on 60 balls, power hitting ability will go down with age and mark my post you will see him getting strangled on 55(65) and 60(75) as 2023 comes near. He doesn’t work on his fitness, or even if he does the results aren’t there. His best days are past him, you will realise this by 2021's end.

Even Kohli will regress ,Kohli doesn't have Rohit's hitting prowess,he will look even more ugly with his 50 off 75 balls

He has regressed at a rapid pace, you can mark this post too

I think rohith didn't get permanent captaincy for india. Kohli will be our captain

I agree with you, he will regress . He shouldn’t be our captain in LOIS
But he is still 32 , and his game depends on running between the wickets and placement more than power hitting. Also he bats at a better pace than rohit till they reach 50.
Also his fitness is exemplary, so chances of him regressing so early are minute

at home conditions we will win this time. ind actually won 14 of 17 matches last 2 times. need a bit of luck. fortune completely favoured eng in 2019, in 2011 ind won a crucial toss against pak. need a bit of luck to win world cups.

We don't need luck. We need to build a strong XI, from openers to middle order to fast bowlers and spinners. We have had a weak, untested middle order since 2013. We need to pick the right players for No. 4. 5, 6 and they need enough matches together until 2023.

It was a manufactured problem.  The dependency on the top 3 "going big" or else India struggles with the bat was intentionally set up - by not allowing batting candidates to become regulars in the side at #4.  Because if a Manish Pandey or Shreyas Iyer becomes an established 'star', then the advertising dollars start chasing the 'new' young batsman on the rise.  So keep them off-balance, keep them in and out of the side.  Instead of grooming them, developing their game and confidence by allowing opportunities to bat in the top order in the 2 years before the WC, keep them on edge by making them bat at #6, dropping them even after a decent showing.  Bring in a past-his-prime Rayudu, and keep him off-balance too.

You are trying to tell me that India did not have viable batsmen to pick from to fix the "middle order"?  Its glaringly obvious that the 'middle order problem' existed and was kept a problem by the team management.  In fact they made it worse with their selection policies.

Very good post. Its shocking how they persisted with the likes of TTF rayudu despite having Shreyas Iyer available.

Such dependency on the top order meant that we had to settle for cautious starts in PP1 and were happy going for par totals. At one point, the WC squad had 3 wicket keepers and 3 spinners for England conditions. Most farcical CWC squad that has ever been selected.

England build the team we didnt, a team is build with investing in players which kohli didnt. U cant make a team by chopping n changing.

We didnt have good fast bowlers ?? or spinners or Batsman ???

Not really. We always had the best bench strength even during WC. I can make a squad  out of the players who got left out in 2019 and even they could easily cruise to the the semis.

Apart from Aus 2003-2007 ,India in 2011 and Aus in 2015 and WI from 1975-1979 no favs ever win the World Cup because either you have to be at a different level of dominance like those Aus and WI teams or be a great team that become greater with  home advantage like Aus in 2015 or India in 2011.

Next world Cup is at home and we should win it and there is no reason for that to be different pre 36 allout, post 36 allout or post series win.
