maniac 22,150
Afridi is still playing and he is on paper 40 years old and add 3-5 years which makes him 45. He still isn’t terrible even though I think he got yet another golden duck just now Tambe and Hogg had decent careers even at 40. Gayle is still smacking them with 10% of the fitness and coordination he had in his youth. He can’t even take a quick run. MSD is still going strong. Recently retired player become hot properties because they have no other commitments and can dive in full fledged with their league commitments. So I don’t get it why we keep calling T20 a young man’s game. Bowling 4 overs and just picking the right ball to smack doesn’t really need a youngster. On the other hand Pant,Gill,Sundar and other youngsters are doing real well in tests and showing their skills and temperament. AuxiliA and kirkutfan 2 Link to post
zen 11,207
If your game and fitness levels remain competitive, you can play for as long as you want esp. in franchise cricket, which has multiple teams and selection criterias At the national level, where the top 15-16 are picked based on current form and/or future potential, players who have passed their peaks can be difficult to consider ... a few slots are also given to groom youngsters and strengthen the bench strength Link to post

Ankit_sharma03 22,386
CSK has pissed on this theory for years. Experience has its own value. Point is play someone without looking at his age. If someone is ready at 18 dont say- " ohh he is young and inexperienced" - If he is ready and team needs his skill go for it If someone is 38-40 and still doing as well as any his age shouldnt be a question. Idea shud be to pick best side not fearing age and experience. This goes both ways kirkutfan 1 Link to post
Vickydev 862
This format is made for spinners. They can play as long as they are not a liability on the field. nevada 1 Link to post
