Oh Ok, I thought it was available on Max. Sometimes they get even theatrical releases.
zen
Branded to Kill (1967) I watch this film from time to time. Many rate this as Seijun Suzuki’s best work. Many have to watch it 2-3 times to fully understand it. Recently, this went through a 4K restoration. I only got the opportunity to check the film in its restored transfer now. Must say it is one of the best B&W 4K SDR transfers that I have seen. It makes the film shine more! Edited July 13 by zen

zen
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) Remains as cracking as it was when it came out. It helped that I hadn’t seen it in a long time so it felt like a new film!
zen
The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) A cool comedy-drama directed by Wes Anderson. Gene Hackman does a good job like he usually does.

zen
Irma la Douce (1963) A unique romantic comedy about a streetworker who takes pride in supporting her man. This man loves actually loves her. He wants her to be off the streets. Secretly, he takes on odd jobs to earn money and disguises himself as a lord to buy all her time and keep her out of the hands of others. Maybe not a film for everyone but never the less a classic! PS This film was remade in Bollywood as Manoranjan (1974). zen
Chase a Crooked Shadow (1958) A nice mystery film. It has inspired Hindi films such as Khoj (1989). Barcelona as location provides character. Wild Things (1998) Looks good in the newly restored 4k transfer. You can feel the vibes of Miami in it.
zen
Le Mépris / Contempt (1963) Directed by Godard. For some reason, I was never able to complete the film. When the film was restored, I added it to my collection. Finally, I finished the film. In a way, it is good that I was able to watch it when it is nicely restored. Must say I was totally blown away by the subject matter, cinematography, locations, and score. This is among the best films that I have seen. Movie felt incomplete - not that it was meant to be a work of art. Watched it on Prime in two sittings. Watchable, weekend watch with a lot of MMA-style action. Not as good as Patrick Swayze original, which was more raw. Moving from Texas to FL is a fail. Jake is fricking buffed up for the movie.

Saw its trailer (didn't recall much about the film and if I had watched it in the past) and it had Deborah Kerr looking good in it so I immediately bought it on iTunes (I may have a subconscious crush on her). An excellent time pass with tons of drama in it. I liked how "Nero" is woven into the story. Surprised that I didn't recall much about this film and avoided watching it for so long. If not for Deborah Kerr, I may have missed it. Technically very good for a 1951 film esp. with its colors. The print on iTunes was excellent as well. I had seen it as a kid in theatres with my dad. Fond memories. Didn’t realize then it was a Biblical movie, just like Benhur. All these biblical stories were shot well in technicolor with grand scenes, only enjoyed in theatres. I am not sure if they are designed as conversion tools as these films are primarily made for western audiences where Christianity is widespread. zen
A couple of Brigitte Bardot films: And God Created Woman (1956) Le Verite / The Truth (1960) Bardot is right up there with the actresses whose films I like to watch such as Deborah Kerr, Grace Kelly (mainly films directed by Hitchcock), Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Hepburn, Monica Vitti (mainly films directed by Antonioni), etc. Edited August 19 by zen
zen
Drive My Car (2021) I did not know what to expect from this film. Only thing that I knew was that it won the Oscar for the Best Foreign/International Film. It is a different type of film. 3 hours long. A slow burn. But the payoff is good if you are into such drama films. It is difficult to tell where the film is going. A large chunk of the film is devoted to recruiting actors, rehearsing, and staging Chekhov’s play “Uncle Vanya”.
