Acceptance of dynasties, wherein "leaders" treat the nation, its people and its resources as family property, will keep the country from reaching its true potential. Yes, colonialism was a killer. But just as big a killer is our obsession with royalty - the deification of political rulers and their children, and the acceptance that the country is handed down through the generations of a single family (be it Nehru/Gandhi or Karunanidhi/Stalin or NTR/whateverhisson'sname is or Thackeray or Gowda or Bommai or Yadav) is a symptom of this obsession.
