He struggles in county cricket, probably his confidence will go down if he goes there early season ,and they might not even pick him.

He is meant to be a 'top test batsman', running away from challenges is something that starting to creep in Indian players- so what if its challenging? doesn't the elite player mentality make you want to overcome hurdles and be the best player? Taking easy options and turning away from tough situations shows meekness.

BCCI has enough money to compensate our Test specialists adequately to play first class cricket in overseas conditions without feeling left out. You seem to have a fattu mindset. No wonder only Kohli could make any centuries. Everyone isnt Kohli so they need time to acclimatise to conditions to even ' block and hold one end'. Pujara will end up nicking to slips every innings cheaply because he hasnt been able to adjust to the lenghts and his footwork without acclimatisation. So will Rahane and so will our openers. Its all about priorities. BCCI does not care about SENA tours enough- Australia is conquered but we are nowhere near competitive in NZ and England as we should be.

Who are you to dictate what players need to do and not do.Pujara might be wanting to get IPL contract which he got so instead of  being happy for that guy.You are ranting on how he should play county cricket. Did BCCI comeout and say they don't care about SENA tours.

You must be a moron to bring Kohli into this discussion, Pujara played county cricket last time before they toured England, he could not buy a run in country cricket.

Leave the fricking guy alone, he is doing just fine.Pujara even if he flops next test is fine. He still has another five years of cricket left in him, why are we looking for his replacement. What he did in Australia was magical on last two tours. He will do well in England too this year.If he does well India will win that series. He is more important batsman than Kohli for this line up as he will hold one end up and tire bowlers out.

5 more years? Pujara will be lucky to last 2  more years.

Kohli was *ing lucky, if Eng held on to those catches in the first innings first test he'd have had a horrid time just like in 2014. Now tbf Kohli did try some mitigations against Anders & Co but his game against the swinging ball is highly suspect, so is everyone else's in the team.

Agree that time is running out for him, Dont agree with He isnt good enough part. He is capable of scoring runs, Once every batsmen except Puji start performing, then the real pressure will start mounting on Pujara, Now he is escaping criticism because entire batting order is non-performing and He has good Australia tour on his resume. I doubt he will be sure starter for England series in XI if He fails in WTC final. Having said that, Rohit vs Pujara is non debating issue, ChePu is head-shoulders above Rohit in test matches.

True, He was dropppd almost 3-4 times in first innings in first test. Pujara's hundred was better than all 3 hundred of Kohli.

We need better batters against swing and seam. Even Pujara has holes in his technique but he is the last person who needs to be questioned of his place right now. Kohli chases balls on the 5th stump giving slippers catching practice. Rahane has regressed from his 2014 form but he may be useful depending on the form. Gill need to spend time away from Kohli. He is learning bad habits from him. Rohit well lets leave it at that. Pant played better at the oval which is considered pacy and more australian like. We can't expect too much from him if he fails. We may need someone like jaddu at 7. He will bat and make better use of footmarks created by the faster bowlers. Thats it folks :cantstop:. hope for the best while andy maybe licking his lips at the prospect of bowling to us

Around 2017/18 he used to avg 53 and kohli was behind him. His avg has dipped in last few years but he has played multiple impactful knocks. He will be our key batsman on that England tour along with Gill & Kohli. Hope he plays county instead of ipl and does well for us in finals & England series.

Can you tell me what I should be happy about? He has more chance of sitting on the bench for all matches and being a waterboy than being a starter. Isnt it best in that case to prepare in conditions you would be playing an important tour in.. a tour where you have been blanked 4-0, 4-1 and 3-1 in the last 10 years? And yes BCCI doesnt care about SENA tours, because instead of sending test players to acclimatise a month or so before an important tour, they either have limited over cricket or practice sessions or meaningless ODI bilaterals. The results are there to see for everyone so I am not making it up.

I only brought Kohli as he turned his abysmal 2014 tour to an excellent one in 2018 without playing county. Everyone doesnt have that same talent and skill, you need to acclimatise, adjust and practice. If you go in cold on tough tours then you are asking to be thrashed. If Pujara 3 years ago couldnt buy a run then a Pujara which is 3 years older, who may have slightly less reflexes and hand to eye coordination, do you not think needs more practice compared to 3 years ago?
