Dude took 4 weeks off and no cricket since lockdown. So he essentially only played IPL a test in Australia , few one days and tests here. This year he doesn’t has too much load.

Not talking about the physical workload. I'm talking about the mental workload of captaining a team in all formats, playing as a batsman with the media knife hanging over, not to forget the ridiculous advertising and brand name promotions. There is a reason why his beard is getting greyer while Root and Williamson look young and relaxed.

Kohli even if he is in decline is still better batsman than many of the players. He has not been scoring 100s on regular basis. He did score fifties in first two tests and one test he played Australia and yet people are talking as if he is failing  that is the high standard he has set for himself.

NZ series is the series where he completely flopped, it happens to best of the players.

I like how you've left out his batting and captaincy no show in the IPL.

In that one test he scored some runs, Ashwin scored a 100+ and rendered Kohli's contribution meaningless.

or maybe it's getting greyer because he is much older than this actual age [please note that this is a joking remark]

How is Ashwin scoring 100 has rendered Kohli's score meaningless. Talk with some common sense. He has 50s in 3 out of last four tests. One test he did not score fifty only two batsman scored crossed 50 for whole test and he scored 24.

Has he set world on fire no, if this start of his decline so be it. He is still the best captain for India in all formats.

He flopped IPL so what, why is that big deal?

So what is his average in last 4 tests. I can guarantee, u can pick any top 3 bats from Ranaji and he will better than Kohli on Indian pitches.

every batsman goes through a 10-20 test rough spot. Kohli is in one. he will be fine.

Kohli is going through a 2-3 year rough spot. Kohli is not only in one, he is on the decline. He wont be fine, this is the beginning of a long long end.

Every batsman declines from their peak and most greats find that their declined state is still good enough for many years for the most part. Not everyone undergoes a Ponting-esque decline.

Kohli will be fine.

right. what are the lottery numbers for next week again, O future seer ?

On the balance of probabilities and given the history of batsmen declining at a certain age, it is fair and reasonable to reach a conclusion that the King is dead.

Sure he might hit a 50 score here and there and against tired and weak opposition score a 100, but his days of dominating and controlling a game in clutch moments are over.

Let me help you with that:

He is our WC T20 captain, and by virtue of that fact is also in the T20 team.

Lets look at his IPL record now. IPL you know, the worlds most competitive T20 competition, after the T20 WC.

  • He has all agency on the use of monetary resources to shape his team in the last 4-5 seasons. Yet he hasn't found a winning combination.
  • In 8 years+ as a captain, the best he has done in an 8 team league is 2nd place.
  • Aside of 2 seasons he hasn't even scored much.

Why exactly is he our T20 captain again? Why is he even on the team?
