Jaddu must be the first or second pick in the XI, he's that good as a total package now. Ashwin is tempting because I think he has a good record against NZ, but he isn't competing with Jaddu. Depends on many factors, pitch, overhead conditions, fitness, number of LHBs. 

 

Sundar can play as a specialist batsman and 6th bowler but not in place of our 5 best bowlers. Tempted to play Ashwin-Jaddu together after what we saw in MCG, both become better when bowling together and the combo is deadly. 

 

Siraj and Ishant over Shami/Umesh. Thakur not sure but if he plays it must be in Ashwin's place if we get a greentop. Bhuvi if he is physically capable. Even Pandya is fighting for that spot but only if he starts bowling at full tilt again, like he did in 2017-18. Unlikely I think.

• If hardik isnt bowling take Vijay shankar, If hardik is bowling then also take vijay shankar with pandya. Also make sure to take Deepak chahar if not in main squad then as net bowler. 
• Dont take Umesh yadav, Axar patel for home game performances 
• Take a 20 member squad (coz england tour is also there)
• Evaluate shaw n mayank technical issues and take a hard call if it hasnt improved. If u still take them with flaws fire ur selectors 
• Keep Easwaran in mind
• Dont take saini, take thakur
• Dont take Umesh, take Siraj
• Dont take Kuldeep....Washi, Ashwin, Jadeja are enough . We aint going to spinner land

The only problem with this lineup is that with Siraj, Ishant and Bumrah, the tail is extraordinarily long. I mean you can't expect these three to last even one over after the 7th wicket falls.

yes, moreover, I think thakur's swing bowling could be quite effective in eng. he can sub in for ishant/siraj assuming bumrah gets his mojo back.

Now is not a time for India to be playing test cricket abroad, not to mention the lack of practice, India will get smashed.

Lol playing cricket abroad makes total sense now Instead of playing it in India.  Test cricket in England & sending the squad early should there should be BCCI's top priority.

i feel sorry for the team selector. siraj is in brilliant form and has gotten even better. shami is a world class bowler. tough decision. 

bhuvi has a phenomenal record in england and overall infact. how do we justify dropping someone. ssundar has been terrific. how to tell him that he will ber dropped. sharul himself is a clutch player and adds batting till number 8 / 9. he can swing the ball and bowl above 135.

Bhuvi doesn't have the fitness to play tests any more. The last test he played was in early 2018 ... 40 months ago.

 

I am not aware of even any FC matches that he has played in this time.

 

Siraj is in such form that he should be our 2nd pacer after Bumrah.

 

For me, it is a toss up between Shami and Ishant for the 3td pacer's slot.

With IPL over, can the BCCI agree with ECB to send a Jumbo squad of 30 players ( India and India A) to England by 20-25th May. With 14 days of hard quarantine, this will give the team 10 days to prepare for the finals. Can play one 3-day and one 4-day intra squad/practice games. No simulated practice bull **** please.

 

Openers - Rohit, Gill, Mayank, Rahul (if fit), Shaw, Easwaran, Panchal

Middle order batsmen: Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Vihari, Sarfaraz

Keepers: Pant, Saha, Bharat, Kishan

All rounders: Jadeja, Axar, Pandya, Shardul, Vijay Shankar, Harshal Patel

Spinners: Ashwin, Rahul Chahar

Pacers - Bumrah, Siraj, Ishant, Shami, Avesh Khan, Bhuvi, Kartik Tyagi, Prasidh
