His action just doesn’t have that intensity anymore. In the matches last year, that back twist and arm was more explosive.
Plus he might have also tinkered his alignment at the release. But this is secondary.

Bowler does not lose 15 kmph  with just that, pathirana has changed his action a lot more than that this season still hitting 145+kmph may not be that often and may be bit wayward but losing that amount of pace is not possible just by little tweaks.

Yes, that’s why I said that explosiveness is missing. It’s visible

Mayank's pace is like he is coming off a surgery, not just rehab. At the pace he used to bowl you need to or try to get back to same speeds as soon as possible else its really hard to be ther

Yes, exactly, and I always want the 145+ pacers to minimise their slower ones as it too develops a bad habit and slows down the bowler as your body organically is programmed to relax more

Ball release has also changed

Both are a different kind of bowlers. Pathirana is a slinger depending more on power. Mayank is dependent on momentum and hitting the crease quickly.

This is a great opportunity for Umran. His biggest competitor is gone.

I don’t think pace will ever be a problem with him as that guy has some common sense. Just needs to get his areas right and develop a deadly yorker. Easier said than done though.

He himself is doing rehab with KKR.

Yes I know that. But this should motivate him now. And also educate him about what his USP truly is. There’s a clear path for him now.

Mayank's bowling is the biggest disappointment of this IPL. All those expectations of him have been crushed. Honestly, dropping 20 ks in pace is just inexplicable.

Even if he is not fully fit, the expectation would be that he is able to hit mid 140s pace if not 150. But he is now at the level where we have countless others. Huge disappointment!

Munaf Patel

Shivam Mavi

Now we need to add Mayank Yadav to that list. So many bowlers disappointed after showing initial promise.

Key takeaway here is that we only truly have one great pace bowler in Bumrah. Use him wisely, try to win away matches while he is fit and performing, and don't let useless oldie batters like Rohit and Kohli waste away Boom Boom's awesome contributions. Otherwise, we may never again have the fast bowling to dominate in SENA conditions. Young fast bowlers have disappointed too often.

He himself was bowling only 145-146ks top speed last we saw him at SRH.

Longer NCA stint means he may as well be bowling same pace as Mayank.

Hopefully not though.

Yes that’s true. But even in the that last match, he bowled a couple close to 150k. I think he only got 2 overs.

Thats an example where his mind was cluttered and he was apprehensive about getting hit. The thing with Mayank is different. He’s getting all the support plus the media behind him.

Yes, exactly. Umran at least seemed to be trying. Mayank here is not even trying to bowl at pace. He is happy to just land the ball.

I had always my doubt after he got injured last year ,now since he has got all the limelight he will not be the same bowler

100 percent. This was the one thing I was most excited about. The biggest disappointment.

Mayank at 145kph will still be good.

I hope he knows cutting pace is not an option for him. Mavi, Tyagi and Nagarkoti all disappeared trying to cut pace to prolong their career. They are nowhere to be seen.

If he wants to be Avesh, Mukesh, Khaleel type bowler- he will rot in IPL circuit ans forgotten in few years.
