Thakur and Chahar are bowling ARs; the discussion was about genuine quick bowlers. Umesh is not no. 9 and neither is boom. as for test spinners, kuldeep is a no. 9 (potentially).

For no 7 I expect an average between 25-35
For no 8 15-25
For no 9 10-20 (Umesh does that mostly)
For 10/11 even 5-10 runs are enough for me.

This is my expectation with Indian tail, English And Auzzie tail are anyway much better.

none of the 145+ pacers will meet your expectations for nos. 7-9 fully

Dayal is somehow not really impressing me.

Seems a little less than international class to me.

Arshdeep is a candidate for T20s like you said,   And I prefer Khaleel.as the left armer for LOIs.

Also no offence to dayal. He does not look his stated age. Looks 30.

khaleel is the best bet for LOIs

no trundlers allowed. this is what has screwed us time and again in all formats especially LOIs.

That's dream of all of us, but our superstar batters will blow themselves up in every critical situation and score will become 10/3 in no time.
BTW...Shardul clocked 146

Khaleel is overdoing the slow ball. Need to fire a fast one into the blockhole.

Thakur also over did the slow ball.

He bowled the slower one for all his 4 overs. And got 4 wickets

Yes, unfortunately that's why we have to fill one (or two) places with trundler quota.

Batting ability till 8 is more than enough.

Which means we can play 3 proper quicks in tests outside Asia and 2 proper quicks + a wrist spinner in LOIs.

And if Tyagi or Hangargekar can become No.8 batters then we can increase the number of quicks.

Specialist bowlers should be chosen purely based on bowling ability and not batting.  (  then make those best bowlers improve their batting by practicing )

Allrounders from 6 to 8 are more than enough

If it still isn't enough then it means we are choosing poor batsmen based on past reputations and a bowler's slot is being used to basically supplement that weak batsman or batsmen.

We always play 3 proper quicks in tests outside Asia.

Why are you surprised ?

In the SA test series earlier this year, we played

7. Ashwin / Jadeja

8. Shardul

9. Shami

10. Bumrah

11. Siraj

That is 3 proper quicks + A swing bowling allrounder + A spinner all-rounder.
