Strike-rate is overrated, says Shubman Gill

ENG's campaign in WC'19 is still fresh. We just saw their batting firepower in the series gone by. This is a World T20 year with every team fine tuning their plans.

And here we have this team think tank that has clearly decided to sell this line on strike rates. Looking forward to being told what else is overrated in cricket. My bet is on winning world events. Clearly overrated.

Kohli fans already do that. Wont be long before kohli starts doing so.

Strike rate by itself has no meaning, but if you have 3 or 4 high strike players each scoring 30 runs at 200, it means 100 runs using just 45 balls. That is a single batter’s innings of a lifetime. That could chase down any total and certainly put up a huge total. In every single ODI for that team.

I think the general public sentiment is shifting now,  so, its going to be the aggressive players like Pant, ishan, SKY etc who will be the new darlings

The old guard is trying desperately to hang on to their super stardom and continue their culture on youngsters but it's seems more desperation than control.

If you notice, these statements sound a lot like CEO of major companies or their lackies saying computers will never catch on - people like pen and paper or internet is just a fad - nothing beats brick and mortar, its desperation at a changing world they don't understand and feel their dominance slipping

They cannot understand how a young player can go for a win on day 5, or reverse sweep Archer and Anderson

Whether they like it or not, cricket is changing, and their styles are going extinct, future super stars will be known for their strike rates and not averages.  Power and money can sometimes also be a two way street, which means these changes will come to us sooner than later. Once public gets a taste, there is no going back, they will demand more aggressive players and entertainment

Process is more important. Win or loss is part of the game !!!   after defeats in WC.

Gill doest have the power game anyways, People here calling for his head should understand that he was never a ABDV or Gayle to begin with. He's a great test prospect and can do well in LOIs. Let's not pick some headline without reading the entirety of it and start bashing youngsters.

This. Gill can be a successor of Kohli as an anchor at 3 in ODIs. He has not shown any hitting abilities that is needed in T20s, infact I am happy if he is not bothered about strike rate. Not every body needs to play all three formats, infact two is good enough for almost everybody except players like Pant who are natural strikers and does not need to change batting style across formats.
