The strongest test bowling order since 1990

Recommended Posts

4 bowlers (retired), #8-11, assuming 3 pacers + 1 spinner scenario

Warne - the prime spinner

Steyn - low SR bowler

Ambrose - low avg bowler. can be extremely lethal in the 4th innings in combination w/ Warne

Donald/McGrath/Akram - pace/accuracy/left arm variety

Below pacers v major teams. At the moment, don't recall the time period that I had used for below but might be from 1970:

When you are selecting 4 atg bowlers then you should go with variety instead of just consistency.

1.Akram - left Arm,  best exponent of swing, ability to produce magical deliveries outta nowhere.

2. Mcgrath - Unerring line and length, extra bounce, difficult to attack.

3. Donald -The enforcer, pure pace and bounce

4. Murali. (I rate him ahead of Warne)
