if early wkts fall, DK will bottle it. and early wickets do fall whenever Ind enters KOs thanks to our great top order bottlers.

That's why we need to have a solid batting order from #4 to #7. The selectors need to presume that we'll be 10/3 and take their thinking forward from there.

Actually RCB lost early wickets almost every single match this season snice Kohli has been a walking wicket.  Rawat is not really good. Today it was an unlucky dismissal.

had no business trying to play that ball going down leg. I suppose his dismissal against NZ in 2019 WC was also unlucky? DK is another bottler, just like his superiors Sharma and Brat

yes, exactly. we might as well as send tailenders who can hit up the order and then preserve the real batting for lower down. a slugger like umesh or harshal may not do that much more badly against shaheen, boult, etc. than KL, Rohit, and Virat on current form

Pretty much all finishers have these kind of dismissals. I won't be harsh on his for this dismissal. Didn't fail in any of the outings this season until now against an innocuous ball.  I am more worried about players having specific weakness and getting pinned down by specific bowlers. That is where we lose matches.

That would be an utterly coward thing to do.

The best mindset would be that #4 to #7 not giving a damn if the top 3 get out for even zero. A solid, gritty middle-order that is expected to close the innings on a fighting total.

There should be some kind of average scoring rate set per milestone that is a variable function of the wickets remaining.

For e.g., if the top #3 are out for 10 in the first three overs:

Till PP: Avg scoring rate: 6-7. [Total Runs = 40]

Till 10 overs: Avg scoring rate: 7-8. [Total Runs = 75]

Till 15 overs: Avg scoring rate: 8-9 [Total Runs = 125]

Till 20 overs: Avg scoring rate: 9-10 [Total Runs = 190]

As more wickets fall, the avg scoring rate will decrease, but our planning should be that we are able to score between 170-200 under all circumstances.

And then, like SRH, we should choose wicket-taking bowlers who specialize in their roles for each phase of the game and hold the nerve and ability to restrict the opposition between 150-170.

This would be my strategy: not to avoid a crisis, but to acknowledge it, soak in it and grow at ease with it.

good plan, if we find the right players. and if we don't, then run from the crisis.

We are talking about t20s here, One of our top 3 is literally the greatest clutch player in history of world t20.

Clean your goggles and watch the highlights again.

Team composition plays a big part in KKD's success. Pant & KKD together will be great. One can go after spin. one can go after pace.

hardik- KKD

One is a power player other is a range player but question is how do u fit him in team unless u wanna go with just 5 bowlers

still not sold on him..

we have been there.....  he will come back to the indian squad and will go missing when he is needed..

time to groom some young talents instead of going back to this TTF

Only reason his name always pops up is because India has absolutely nobody to do the role.   Most teams leave it to West Indian/English/Australian mercenaries. In this season he has scored 71 runs in 20th over. That is pretty remarkable. He was backed in wrong format for a long time. Instead of DK India kept playing Dhoni in T20. He hasn't played a world T20 match in the last 12 years.  Pant has played more T20 matches than DK. So i won't call him a failure in this format.

Against pace when in the zone he can tear apart any bowling attack.  If he is paired up with someone like Pant or SKY  opposition will struggle to negotiate.

pant-sky-dk-hardik all if paired together can be dangerous coz they cover each other issues , but this will come at a cost of 6th bowler
