He has always been like this. Will show some promise and lure you into selecting in the team just to  disappoint fans. He is nice guy but that's it. Should start thinking about Sky stint as permenant job and give up getting into squad, better to select someone else rather than DK just to get that Finsher role player, our lower middle order is very potent now compared to Dhoni era.

After choking miserably in the simple run a ball chase , today choked in a high scoring chase. Scores just 2 runs from 5 balls at sr of 40.

Don't u know its just "1 inning any one can fail"

Otoh if he flukes a 30 it'll be the bestesst innings of all time

One innings?

He's has failed in 2 out of 3 innings. More than his higher percentile failures it is disgusting abaout his approach to T20 cricket. Last match he did not show any intent at all to score even run a ball. Today he failed to read what the bowler bowled at him and he was strangled for 2 runs from 5 balls. How does plays so many dot balls after an epic failure last match. Should have been more positive to get over his choke in last match. But there was no intent not to play dot balls this time as well. It is highly shocking to see a experienced cricketer like him do same mistakes match after match.

Even if he does well in IPL he should be nowhere near Team India. He has been there before and he is a has been now. Time to look at other youngsters rather than picking a 35+ cricketer who is choking consitently at IPL level as well.

Teams still dont understand when to use him

He has been disappointing. But please stop defending him with this theory of "he is 24 balls champion, should not be wasted before that". This cameo specialist thing will not win you everytime, the bowlers on the opposition side are not duds who will let you walk all over them. Plus, we saw what he achieved against Bumrah & co against MI. .

For his "late order cameos" to be successful, he needs all the help from top & middle order. Such limited players are called "liabilities" if they are only batsman but yeah because he is a wicket keeper, he is still a utility player.

and he is the same guy who has done this to bumrah before that -S/r vs bumrah- 217, before that game he owned bumrah

Bumrah is a World class bowler who is suppose to come back and everyone in chennai has struggled even pollard, russell, Pandya . Bumrah worked out a plan against him so now DK has to counter.

And the Last line i mentioned in OP clearly says - IF he performs then only consider him .

24 balls is a lot in t20- last t20 WC that was the difference....no harm in having options provided he performs. 8 out of 10 t20s will be about those 24 balls and the day its a collapse we are screwed anyways and honestly i dnt even trust pandya in that situation in t20s. Neways our batting strategy is build around safety in and if then also we are expecting collapses ...well

So its just a variety option that doesnt need to be used every game , have it ...ull never know when ull need it.

A player who can only be used one way batting first 16-20 overs is useless.

I have clearly written u dnt need to play him in every XI , when ur taking 22-23 players have option...u just cant take openers n middle order players...have some finishers . Keep him as horses for courses option

How many option do we have of finishers ??

And its the Skill set which he brings which is entirely opposite to Pandya . There is a kind of bowling which hardik will struggle against and it wud be mostly england wood n Archer so keep a player who can play different game then him. DK with his classical base and range of strokes can be an option .

No point keeping similar option when u have 22-23 members being allowed by ICC....so have players which can be used for particular situation. This is what IPL sides do, Jayant yadav is kept in MI just for that game where they feel Left handers need to be controlled and thats what they did last yr in Final.

The basic squad is 16...use the extra 5-6 players as counter top 4 teams.  Thats why i even made a post ashwin, doesnt mean ashwin has to be played every game. If it was 16-17 member squad i wnt even have suggested coz that u need player who can fill most criteria most days
