The Battle of the Royals at Mumbai

At one corner is the team in red (not just its dress) hot form, RCB, and at the other, a team that has been plagued by injuries to its key players but still doing the best with the resources available ... For RCB, Maxwell, ABDV, Harshal, Siraj and Jamieson have been brilliant so far. Maxwell & ABDV even helped their team go past 200 at Chennai! What more can you ask? ... For RR, it has been musical chairs with someone or the other stepping up in a game. There is no formula here (for those with simple minds preferring things to have recognizable patterns, it can be confusing) but a random phenomenon where a Samson can hit a 100, a Buttler can smash tons of 6s, a Morris can man handle bowlers, a Unadkat can pick up wkts, a Fizz can become a wiz, and so on ... Therefore, on paper, RCB would start as the favorite. On the field, however, its is more about which wild wild west turns up:

If the wild wild west wakes up on the right side of the bed, you may see the following images from the other team (RCB):

Other odds that the wild wild west will fight is that @Global.Baba has picked it over RCB:

This depends on who is batting first. If RCB bat first, they have a chance to score 220+ provided AB and Maxwell fire.

If not , anything less than 200 is easily chaseable here. Hell, I'm not sure if RCB can even defend 220, their bowling attack so far has been benefiting from the Chennai pitch. This is the first time they are bowling on a flat track. I expect them to go for runs.

If RCB bats second, I expect them to concede 200+ on this track, and falter chasing it.

RCB are due for a loss.

My Prediction: RR in a comfortable win.

  • Not a bad toss to lose as RR can bat w/o the RRR pressure
  • Dube still persisted, so hopefully, he will make the most of this opportunity
  • Gopal in, which could be turn out to be a big gamble if dew kicks in. Not a fan of going purely by "matchups" without looking into the form of a player and playing conditions. If he can somehow manage to get wkts, credit to him (RR may need to use him early if gets dewy)

Great OP, @zen

Royal Challengers Bangalore: 1 Virat Kohli (capt), 2 Devdutt Padikkal, 3 Shahbaz Ahmed, 4 Glenn Maxwell, 5 AB de Villiers (wk), 6 Kyle Jamieson, 7 Washington Sundar, 8 Harshal Patel, 9 Kane Richardson, 10 Mohammed Siraj, 11 Yuzvendra Chahal

Rajasthan Royals: 1 Jos Buttler, 2 Manan Vohra, 3 Sanju Samson (capt & wk), 4 Shivam Dube, 5 David Miller, 6 Riyan Parag, 7 Rahul Tewatia, 8 Chris Morris, 9 Shreyas Gopal, 10 Chetan Sakariya, 11 Mustafizur Rahman

RCB chose to field? Why they could have set 220 and demlosihed RR. I guess they are in benevolent mood to share some points , MI ishtyle!

No Jaydev! :hitler: Why do RCB carry people like Shahbaz at the top, he is clearly not set any pitch on fire!

Kyle Jamieson and Kane Richarson. Facking confusing scottish names
