People need to lighten up, we are all sterilizing humans into humanoid bots following the strict politically correct algorithm.

You reckon if an Indian player on debut was found to make offensive remarks directed at Muslims, or Tamils, for example, we should all just forget it?

What’s wrong with the tweets? It’s not racist, that’s like saying Kohli or Shastri are racist bc they use fake American accent in their English.

Is that how you impress people in your home town Abottabad by pretending to be from UK/Canada? Not counting Dubai as they have no western accent

lol Shastri or Kohli or any Indian player for that matter never sounded American to me. They sound just like anyone from India with good or decent English. I doubt they sound like Americans to anyone else here either. I wonder where that thought came from.

Our boys are too simple to do this but I wish we had a bastard character in the team to put this material to use on the field.

Imagine this. Buttler readies himself to take the guard and the close-in fielders chime in thickest of desi accent

''Buttler boy, what do you think of Shilpa Shetty's accent?''

''Sir, Sir, buttler sir, autograph pleeze''

''Buttler sir, why waste time here, twitter waiting for you''

etc etc. The opportunities are endless.

That guy had to be a test specialist too..  IPL guys won't do that 100% even if it is Ishant Sharma lol..

The key is not to insult him for his name or anything personal. Absolutely not.

Instead, use his casual racism against him. Make him super uncomfortable and he cannot even squeal and complain.

i'm not sure you can mock someone for being a casual racist. it kind of makes light of things

Very Interesting they have brought Bess Back suddenly..  Actually now ECB is in a catch 22 situation.  They can't play a alleged racist guy Overton over Robinson but they need someone who can bowl & bat & they have brought back Bess lol..  This is some 3d chess though:hatsoff:

No disagreement. Mocking publicly is absolute no-no. Treat it with seriousness and sensitivity.

Exactly why I mentioned lack of bastard characters who relentlessly do it on the field of play without getting obvious. If it does lead to distracting Buttler enough to get him cheaply a few times in the test series, go for it.

The depressing reality is that a vast chunk of Indians don't see much wrong in it, so it neither gets the press nor does our team stand to milk it for what it's worth on the pitch.

I am seeing a lot of Indians (from India) on cricket forums popping up in support of Ollie Robinson. Is this the Modi effect?

Michael Atherton, who curiously has a lot of admirers on this forum, has completely overlooked Carberry's opinion in his Times article although he thought Dom Bess deactivating his account was worth mentioning.

Atherton, Gower, and Holding (look up his Sky interview today) have all come up with versions or more or less the same stance i.e. suspend, investigate, educate and reform. Carberry has lost the plot somewhat. you can't deny someone a second chance in life.

Out of the above 4, only Carberry likely has had to experience playing with or against the likes of Ollie Robinson. Holding did play in County but as a celebrated overseas pro so it's different. Carberry would know how pervasive it is, how hostile it can get and how indifferent the administration and the entire system could be about it. SO his remarks are actually coming from actual, real, and physical experience unlike the airy fairy and cheesy takes from Atherton or Gower.

Very strange of you then to say Carberry's lost the plot.

that is true. i didn't mean to be so dismissive, and you're right, we should pay extra attention to Carberry. if you want to bring about change you need to carry people with you. forgiveness and proof you have changed is still a basic principle most reasonable people can live with. Carberry is falling foul of that principle by saying players like Robinson should be weeded out and thrown on the scrap heap. then again maybe Carberry didn't quite mean that and he has a right to speak passionately.
