Backed themselves into a corner - its not Ollie's fault but the ECB is under the gun for legally liable issues like the retired umpire's discrimination etc, so they are forced to ensure they avoid a perception of inaction in the face of 'new' issues as they crop up.  Poor Ollie got crucified because of that.

he's paying a price for those horrendous tweets. it's ok to feel sorry for him, but we have to consider the victims of racism too, not least Moeen and Jofra who have been targets of racism before.  let them check there's no further poor behaviour, and he can return.

oh I'm not glossing over the real issues that exist, or his stupidity.  

 

But I do not think retroactive punishment like this is the way forward.  Let's call a spade a spade, his 'suspension' is primarily an act of CYA by a scared corporate entity that isn't ready to actually address the issue, but is desperately trying to 'manage' the risk.

The BLM movement wouldn't have been as strong as it is today had it not been for the internet. Through the internet, news spreads like fire on petrol and most people end up participating in political issues without understanding the cultural and social context of the issues.
