Ind must play Siraj in the WTC final

India must play Siraj in the WTC final

On paper, he lends an edge to the bowling attack. Can move the ball both ways, can bowl line and length, and at pace if required. Importantly, he is in good wkt taking form and can adjust to most pitches/conditions.

He may end up having a bad game, but tactically, he should be in the 11.

India can't risk it , playing a 1-match series. Most likely 12th man

no experiments , all selections should be made with 100% confidence of their contribution.

Are you basing it on my statement - he may end up having a bad game (since you bolded it)? ... That statement is applicable to everyone in the 11 not just Siraj ... It is a way of saying that while anyone can have a bad game but tactically, Siraj should be in the 11

Its clear that for Siraj to play, Shami would have to be benched.  That's not an easy call for any skipper to make.

You don't just screw over the horses that brought you to the big dance, for some marginal possible benefit.  It has to be a whole lot more tangible than that.

Would we have made it to the dance without the Aus series win? Siraj was among those who contributed the most there.  He is a shoo-in.

4 Eng pace bowlers out performed Ind's key pace bowlers, similar case for the spinners ... so  a challenge for the bowlers to rise up to the occasion ... a bowler like Siraj can potentially make things happen so worth a shot

I would love to see Siraj play.  Either he will have a 2-3 wickets in the game or he will run through their top order.  Very very tempting option indeed.

I don't think Shami offers that kind of explosiveness with the ball in England.  His last test was 5-6 months ago in Australia the Pink ball game where he was not too successful.

Siraj performed in Aus in his debut series & then on spinning Indian tracks bowled with steam & took wickets vs England.

He was India's best pacer in IPl by some margin..  Looked like a complete bowler.

Siraj is such a great young bowler - and the best thing about him is that even with his 'inexperience', his floor is pretty high.  You have a high degree of confidence that he isn't going to spray it around a la Umesh, and at worst, will be a high-quality 3rd seamer that will keep the pressure on.  At worst.  And a good probability of picking up wickets too.

Its something for Shami to think about - in spite of his experience, and obvious skjillset, you can't really say that about him with full confidence.  He's fully capable of disappointing in the 1st innings to the tune where he will just leak runs and fail to be penetrative.

Having said that, Shami at his best can also win a test match for you on his own.  So there's that.

Knowing Virat's penchant for 'loyalty' towards seniors, I'd be more than a little surprised if I saw Siraj ahead of Shami in the WTC XI.

Siraj is the only fast bowler in India who can move the ball both ways at good pace in most conditions. And bowl in good areas while doing all this.

Dropping him would be a big risk in England.

(  Bumrah will bowl in good areas at good pace ... but may or may not move the ball

Shami will move the ball a bit at good pace ... but he may or may not bowl in good areas

Ishant will bowl in good areas and get inswing ... but he may or may not get away movement or bowl at pace )

Are you saying Siraj is the best bowler we have?

Here is Siraj bowling in a test match in India a few months earlier

... Getting so much movement both ways even in India

... Balls really flying through or skidding through and hurrying Root regularly.

... Such attacking lines and lengths.

How can we drop a fast bowler who is in such form and showing such ability even in Indian conditions  !!!!

In English conditions and based on current form, he might well be.

What about the nerves?

He's so far played without much expectations.Even in Aus we were just happy he gave us a chance.Had nothing to lose

First time he'll feeling the heat of expectations, that too in a final

I will play him too but won't be so confident about him
