Will Root end up with a higher average than Kohli?

it is not about plain averages alone ... Root is a comfortably better test  batsman because of the higher number of inns , his much superior  away average,  his big 100s in

'abroad countries' an also his slightly  better country wise record ...

Overall , Kohli with his far better LO  credentials is stiil convincingly better though.  But if he continues like this , even that too is in danger...

This is the first time Joe Root has topped the test batsman rankings since a brief stint at the top during the 2015 Ashes series. He is now 1 rating point behind his all time high of 917 achieved at the same time.

We are actually doing serious injustice to our batsmen by producing dust Bowls at home. Every top batsman is piling runs at home but we in an attempt create false supremacy over our opposition are creating dust bowls giving cheap wickets to spinners. Look at Jadeja, he has become so habitual of taking cheap wickets on rank turners in India that he is looking like a part timer in England. No one can guess he is averaging 24 in test cricket after watching him bowl harmless stuff in England.

Indian version of Philander except no one complains about Philander.

Imagine kohli dropping below 50 average. His one talking point will be gone

But is that the only talking point?

What about 11 SENA hundreds?

What about 50+ averages in Aus and Sa.

Secondly that average is not dropping below 50.

It's your opinion that 50 average is the only talking point about his test batting, the way he carried India on his shoulders in Sa and Eng tour in 2018 and how he dominated aussies in 2014 will always be remembered by unbiased cricket fans unlike you.

Kohli averaged 52-53 at his peak.

He will end up with 48.xx avg and will be in league to Greame Smith than in league of ATG batsmen.

why doesn't he go see an optometrist instead of his publicist?

Weren't there some insta or some other SM pics of him wearing eye glasses during the lockdown? When playing, he must be wearing contact lens.

Should retire from captaincy after this year, needs to focus more on batting.

Before quitting captaincy, he must be in a position of strength. Scoring a couple of centuries in a series will give him confidence to let go of captaincy. He can't quit it when his batting form is abysmal as it will out more pressure on him to deliver as pure batsman.

Could barely remember him playing any great knock on tough home wicket vs a quality spinner.

Century vs Swann and Panesar.
