In the past players not fully committed to IPL have failed to get bidders. IIRC Finch went unsold in the last auction after pulling out of the auctions in 2019 (and has been bitter about IPL ever since). I hope franchise give the same treatment to this trio. I have nothing against them but it's absolutely unprofessional to pull out days before the event just 2 weeks after confirming your availability.

Its the lure of the 100. Players now think 100 will take off and they wont need IPL

On the two new teams, who could be the Indian players they can target? They will need a good core of Indian players

Iyer surely will look for an opportunity to lead a side now that DC have decided to keep Pant as captain.

Rahane isn't likely to get much game time at DC and may look to move out. He also played at Goenka led Supergiants, so that could be a likely destination

With the KKY coaching group publicly criticising Gill, will he look to move out as well?

Sarfaraz Khan, despite his massive Ranji season in 2019-20, hasn't been getting game time at all at Punjab. Hopefully he gets an opportunity at one of the teams.

Among the bowlers, Mavi and Naggerkoti are not getting to play much. One of them could move out, though for Naggerkoti it could be difficult given all the investments and support he has received from KKR.

If you have a point say the point. I personally am for IPL more teams but any opposition to your  point doesnt mean anyone is Michael holding or whatever

What is this childish behavior?

Anyone who derides IPL and is bitter about it, not for sporting reasons but just to show themselves as a great fan of test cricket, is a Michael Holding clone, simple as that.

But where has anyone done that in this thread? The ones who are even speaking out against more teams have given their points which are sporting reasons

The board also decided to set a cap of one franchise per state. Consequently, the new IPL franchise(s) would be located in a state where no existing franchise has a home base. With Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and the union territories of Delhi and Chandigarh ruled out, other international match venues like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Kochi/Thiruvananthapuram and Lucknow, would be favourites to host the new franchises.

Assume Ahmedabad, Lucknow get included now.

What after that, say in 5-10 years time? Kochi? Ranchi? Vizag? Guwahati? Some franchise based in Bihar/MP/Chhattisgarh/Odisha/Himachal/Goa?

We need to be ambitious and expand the league. If there are too many teams and double round robin gets too tedious (say 150+ games) we can adopt another format. It isn't set in stone that we must continue with current format only.

Definitely Guwahati. Will be a massive boost for cricket in the region.

Ranchi, Indore, Raipur, Cuttack have hosted IPL matches, have a captive audience for the IPL and should be next. Kochi has hosted international matches, Kerala will be keen to get an IPL team, perhaps the Lulu Group guy could own it. Dharmshala, despite rhe amazing stadium, does not have a big enough catchment area.

Unlike these cities, Bihar hasn't even invested in a proper cricket stadium yet. Doubt if they will get any IPL team even 10 years from now.

Hoping to see few more Zimbabweans, Afghans, Sri Lankans, Kiwis, and white South Africans get contracts.

Zimboks and Toygers have gotten a poor hand when it comes to IPL contracts - Franchises are quick to run after faltoo no-name Aussies, Brits and SA-cans in that order, but proven legit talents from these teams, SL also, do not get an objective evaluation.

Slowly the IPL's Australian hangover is starting to recede, hopefully that trend continues.

A couple of years ago, I wrote an ICF 'article' about how BCCI should be forward thinking, and add a Colombo and Dubai franchise to IPL.   But before the IPL can expand internationally, it has to 'finish' expanding within the country.

I think 14 Indian franchises is well within reason.  More than that would probably have to wait until genuine economic expansion takes proper deep roots.

But 14 Indian franchises, with one in SL and UAE?  That could work.  And the UAE franchise would obviously have deep enough pockets to challenge the top dogs of the IPL BOM, CSK etc.

With that joker running their board like a dictator and threatening to withdraw NOCs, the value of their players has taken a hit. Else Mahmudullah, Liton, and Mehidy will get good bids.

Biggest problem for the top toyger players is that franchises have a reasonable alternative in domestic talent to fulfill the roles they would offer - without burning up an overseas player slot.  No Bangla batsman is at the calibre of a QDK, Buttler, or Warner.  And none of the Bangla spinners can do what Rashid Khan can do.  That's the problem for them.  Shaqib is world class and that's the level of talent they need, to break into the IPL on a consistent basis.

Most of their fan bases don't understand the mechanics and constraints of the overseas player slots and end up assuming that bangla players don't get bids because "racism".  Its ignorance at its most typical.

As for Toygers, I'm not sure how many of them would be worthy of an IPL deal.
Somya, Liton Das, and Mushfaquar, to name a few. Not sure about others.
Bangladesh team just sucks, boring team to watch.
Their reliance on a slow, low double-paced track to win matches isn't helping matters either. They should be kept out of the IPL.

That sounds exactly like the strategy used by a certain IPL franchise for a number of years!
