It was imperative to check and possess all their belongings. Unless the police have a suspicion and have prior approval of checking your phone like the Ragini Swivedi case, I don’t think police can ask phones from people on the street look for ganja. It is the first time that BJP is using them at such extent against political rivals, and Media Houses which don't agree with BJP, and against Bollywood and any celebrity who goes against BJP far right policies. Even judiciary (at least the lower courts) has also been compromised under BJP. Such stunts are unnecessary. Hope he takes something positive out of this and changes his life. No, I said, it is hard to believe he was only one of the two who didn’t possess.
