If his team member was at the receiving end of online abuse, what is wrong in standing up for him?

That is what a leader should do. Rare example of good leadership from Kohli.

Did he back him up when online trolls abused him for not adhering to Sharia law when he has shared him a wife’s pictures? Now journalists are riding his coattails to justify their narrative.  Can he do some basic fact checks on who abused before opening his trap.?

Yes it is and good on Kohli to publicly back his player.

At the same time, how about he himself stop his filthy abuses on the field, improve his on field behaviour and rein in his vile and abusive paid PR trolls on social media. Else all this support is no more than random statements.

That picture he shared of his wife on IG had nothing to do with cricket. What reason does Kohli have to engage the Islamist trolls there?

Here Shami was allegedly abused for his lack of performance on the cricket field. Its only natural that his captain take a stand here.

Can't see what wrong Kohli has done here.

A lot abuses like M/BC were thrown at him and also to Rohit/KL and Pandya, based only on the frustration of bad performance . Did he back them up as well.?  A few dozen called him a traitor. This is excessive woke action for a crime that didn't deserve to be called  a national shame by some eminent intellectuals.

did he stand up for this Hindu teammates when people like Waqar Younis and the retarded Pak minister were passing anti Hindu bigoted comments? I have no issue for him standing up for shami but what about the rest of them?

Did he condemn any pak cricketers for their religious bigoted views? He’s busy keeping his image with bakis tip top so that his wife’s films don’t get banned there. It’s so obvious to see. Feku captain

Kohli has given some suggestion for Diwali, why are some morons getting worked up . He backed his team mate against vicious attack so now some morons want to tell him how to live his life. Rahul Dravid's has a an ad about not smoking. So is he telling not to smoke. Kohli laughs with opposition player , he has committed treason according to few morons.People need to get a fricking life ,

He stood up for a team mate who was allegedly abused for his religion.

Kohli is not a Pakistani cricketer to make political statements on everything under the sun. That retarded statement by Waqar isn't directed at Kohli's team per se. Abuse of Shami is.

Sabka badla lega Faisal, oops I mean Kohli?

Oh and Bollywood movies are banned in Pakistan since the abrogation of Article 370. That angle makes no sense.

People hate the holier than thou attitude and giving gyaan.

Kohli does this with everything. Even during Anushka's pregnancy.

He is right reg Shami (could have made a simple statement and left it) but his Diwali gyaan was needless.

Especially in today's climate where things often get twisted badly.

“so doing namaz in front of Hindus”.. were his team mates not present there? It’s an indirect reference to them.

stop trying to deflect the larger issue

How many people flamed Shami? How many persons and how many statements? We need to be factual in response. If it is handful of people on internet, we need to ban them from platforms and ignore about it.  Idiots are everywhere.

India is an  extremely  over populated with limited resources. People fight like dogs for them. I am not surprised each and every dumb **** Indian celeb want to claim the limelight using this issue.  Roji roti kaa maamla hai.

And let's not wait for approval from Muslim world or west.  They will never appreciate Dharmics for any thing. Except when we growel to their world view. Which our celebs/cricketers are doing.

Why do people care what Kohli does outside the ground. He is a free man  and is allowed to do what he wants like anyone else.I can understand fans critiquing his play and captaincy. But what he does with his wife's pregnancy is his choice. He is defending his teammate here.

Because his words carry more weight than a normal person and he should think twice before exhibiting hypocrisy...
