The Judgement lies with teh tribunal,a nd knowing how things work, i guess it is anybody's guess that AKhtar would be back. A Cat has nine lives, Akhtar has ten. There is this great newspiece I read in IPL Watch about this issue. You guys should check it out.

Akhtar's IPL dream receding, appellate tribunal to take time Agencies Posted online: Saturday , April 12, 2008 at 1736 hrs IST Karachi, April 12:: Controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's chances of playing in the lucrative Indian Premier League seemed to be receding with the tribunal to hear his appeal against five-year ban not likely to decide on the matter soon. Given the busy schedule of the chairman of the appellate tribunal Aftab Farrukh, retired judge of Lahore High Court and now a practicing barrister, it is unlikely that the case will be decided in a hurry. The IPL starts on April 18 and organisers have said Akhtar, who was to play for Kolkata Knight Riders, would not be eligible to play in the Twenty20 tourney until the Pakistan board removes the ban imposed on him on disciplinary grounds. "I don't think we are going to have a situation where the appellate tribunal will reach a decision after one or two sittings and given the busy schedules of the chairman and Salman Taseer the hearings could drag on beyond a month," a PCB official said. The tribunal, which had former Test player Haseeb Ahsan and former federal minister Salman Taseer as other members, was set up last week and has a minimum of seven and maximum of 30 days to reach a decision on Akhtar's appeal. Akhtar was handed the five-year ban for breach of the players Code of Conduct, having publicly criticised various board policies after he was overlooked for a central contract in January. Meanwhile, PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf, Disciplinary Committee chairman Muneer Hafeez and Akhtar will appear before the Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture on April 14 for a hearing called to look into cricket matters and the events leading up to the ban imposed on Akhtar

Shahrukh has been sobbing on Modi's shoulders sandeep... PCB chief got pissed of with actor when he said that ashraf wanted commision from his IPL money and he made a lot of noise about it hence the "can't take him till pcb clears " stand by modi...but some kind of behind the scene settlement has been reached for that SRK ...I hope this guy gets hit for sixes by one and all. Now there are two reasons to hopeKKR come last....srk and the real actor:hysterical:

Akhtar has always been a conundrum. The man, makes more news than sense, creates more antics than action and has more accent than grammar. Expect this legend, to take IPL as seriously as test cricket. His breathtaking 4 over spells, followed by his frequent visits to the bathroom, fortunately, is all that is expected of him in the IPL. IPL will also benefit from his speeches (esp, since Bhajji's ouster, there is no one giving inspiring speeches as frequently) and will be one helluva hit, once he is back. He has chosen the right team, as well. No one can accuse him of being a loser who is hurting his team. Loser, alright, but he wont hurt Kolkatta any further. There are already 10 others working on it fulltime. IPL must consider increasing this man's wages, in self-interest, as he is likely to give it all back in fines.
