A tours are not just about grooming young talent, it's also about rewarding Ranji performers. Saurabh Kumar has taken loads of wickets and deserves his chance in A cricket. Now that he's had a taste of a higher level of cricket, it's upto him now to improve further. if he can't, he will get consigned to Ranji and not get picked for A side again.

Gowtham was always a poor pick.

Well Saurabh is still 28.. if he gets better can give us 4-5 years. Gowtham is really poor selection. Should have selected some young promising spinner, even if on talent alone to take a punt.

A-tours are for preparing actual prospects for test matches and ODIs.

Ranji performers were rewarding by selecting them for Zonal Teams / India Red / Blue etc.

People talk about s Africa quota system which isn't even bad. Worst case one or 2 white guys miss out. Even then those players are easily replaceable unless it's a bowler.

India is way worse. We have 3 to 4 different quota fodders who just cling on like leeches.

And how do you prepare prospects? By giving performers an opportunity to perform at a higher level.

The Zonal concept is dead since BCCI started investing heavily on A tours in the last 4-5 years (Irani Trophy or Duleep Trophy have lost their relevance). Which is why I don't find anything wrong in giving top Ranji performers a couple of A tours. If they are up for it, they get picked further ultimately getting picked for the national side, else they go back to Ranji Trophy for the rest of their career.

For 90% players, selectors generally know which players are National Team prospects and which ones are just Ranji level heroes.

For the 10% borderline cases, I don't mind them being tried out on A-tours.

Lol. If he can bat then it's alright.

Probably he can be handy in cloudy English conditions with Duke ball. With Kooaburra i am not so sure.  When he came to limelight he was known for his banana swings. Not sure what happened to that. But he still can make batsmen struggle in swinging conditions.

They both can be in team together it would be such a gun lineup in test. Pant and Kishan together, we can play Kishan in place of Hagane.

kishan got incredible hand speed. he has power and all strokes. Little bit suspect vs bouncer but still workable.

good player.

i do not mind him opening in tests for us. if he gets going he can fire. or MO. either one is fine.

Just hoping that TM doesn't select Vihari in playing eleven for the first test,  his shot making ability is as good as current version of Pujara. Can't play the survival game for too long in international arena.

Abhimanyu Eashwaran or Sarfaraz Khan should be selected in  the Squad.

No logic behind using Deepak Chahar when we already have Shardul.

Just watched Vihari's innings for while felt like he was too circumspect even againt spinners on this track. He was not scoring of even half volleys. As a batsman if you are unable to put away bad deliveries you will never score big runs in these conditions.

exactly the problem Pujara has developed lately
