1) Rahul Dravid Gives Rs 35,000 To Groundsmen For Preparing Sporting Pitch. 2) We should be mentally prepared for a few years of HUGE disappointments in Indian cricket

Same way, Chennai 2016 wasnt a patta.

We took 20 wickets.

In fact, it was a spin paradise.

Jaddu took a 7fer there.

27 wickets in the game though. Here 36.

1. There are gradations in pitches. It's not binary.

2. Can't compare 2016 batting with 2021 batting. A half decent Indian batting would probably have lost less wickets and we would have had more time to win the game.

Doesn't make the pitch good.

Low bounce.

Inconsistent turn.

Take out the rough and our spinners would have struggled to pick 10 wickets let alone 17.

England were psychologically finished then, after the karun nair triple century they were never going to hang in for to long, a pitch were medium pace seamers getting it to move and cause trouble for the batsmen is not flat, southee and Jamieson were a lot better than our seamers.

Exactly which is why how many wickets fall or match result has NO bearing on the quality of the pitch.

Had India had half decent batsmen, we would have handsomely won this and it would have looked an even better pitch.

On the flipside, if 2000s India and Pakistan faced off here, it would have been a super boring draw.

Maybe there was something for the pacers but we never know cos ours didn't bowl well at all. Their pacers did great but our batsmen were hopeless and just kept throwing away their wickets.

From a spinner's point of view, this is a nightmare pitch.

Nor Ashwin or jadeja have the ability to take the pitch out of equation, Ashwin needs bounce to succeed and jadeja a dusty pitch, their states are inflated, someone like Graeme swann would have picked up a six haul in this pitch, there was more than enough assistance imo, it was a decent pitch thou neither Umesh or ishant looked good enough, hopefully Siraj and prasidh get to play the second test.

The loser group of the noughties  ( Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman) shouldn't be given any role in the team, they don't have the win at all cost mentality, quite similar to their cricketing career where they lacked the ruthlessness.

Absolutely Pathetic

These guys remind us of the day when BCCI had no status and we were ruled by ECB and CA.

While I firmly believe that we should have full home advantage when teams tour India - I also want our bowlers - pace and spin - to strive hard for wickets. This will really help us when we tour other countries. India suck at sporting pitches - can't bat and can't pick wickets either. However, this change should happen at Ranji level first. Let the upcoming players experience this before they move to national team.
