Respect for Kohli

  1. 1. Was sacking of Virat the ODI captain done disrespectfully by BCCI/Ganguly?

    • Yes, a player of such stature cannot be sacked as captain. He can only be convinced to relinquish his captaincy but not fired from the position.
    • The BCCI is right in its decision. However, they could have been more professional like informing him ahead of time and thanking him for his services etc.
    • No, BCCI is not disrespectful in any way but completely justified in its action. In fact, this action is already 2 years overdue.

Nautankibaaj abhi bhi drama kar rahaa hai. They would have sacked him before t20wc but he played politics by announcing that he will retire after World Cup and concentrate on his batting.

This is the way he is concentrating on batting.

If media reports are to be believed, Shashtri himself resigned because he couldn’t take anymore tantrums of Kohli.

Some unconfirmed reports said that the BCCI gave Kohli 48 hours to relinquish the ODI captaincy on his own, and took the step to replace him when this was not forthcoming. In the absence of any explanation in the press release or subsequently, the truth value of these stories could not be ratified.

Such bizarre ultimatums are hardly the norm and unlikely. However, given the icy tenor of the press release, one can assume a certain level of disenchantment in the BCCI with Kohli, though this still does not justify the absence of a simple thank you on his marvellous achievements as ODI captain. In fact, this is rank bad form on the part of the establishment.

Kohli should be sacked from Test team as well. He is going to bring lot of negative vibes for everyone. Moreover he is trying to hide behind Pujara and Rahane, so no one can pay attention to his form. It’s time for clean start and look at future.

IMO, BCCI has done right thing. There is no reason to sack Kohli as test captain as he has done okish in Test arena. He should continue to lead there and play purely as bat under Rohit and Rohits philosophy. He is a great bat and if we win some trophy under Rohit with white ball cricket and him giving his best, That will redeem himself as leading a cricket mad nations team in all three formats is tough job

The reason Rohit is now VC is most likely to mitigate the dirty tricks our Kohli has been playing. ie dropping the batsmen/players specially bats. With this one moove, BCCI has ensured that he can not drop Rohit from test team now.

Rohit is ranked above Kohli in test cricket rankings. Kohli won't dare to touch him. Sensing his growing stature, he tried to sabotage him by talking to the selectors about appointing a younger vice captain.
