'Utter disrespect': Twitter enraged at BCCI, Ganguly for 'sacking' Virat Kohli

Respect for Kohli

  1. 1. Was sacking of Virat the ODI captain done disrespectfully by BCCI/Ganguly?

    • Yes, a player of such stature cannot be sacked as captain. He can only be convinced to relinquish his captaincy but not fired from the position.
    • The BCCI is right in its decision. However, they could have been more professional like informing him ahead of time and thanking him for his services etc.
    • No, BCCI is not disrespectful in any way but completely justified in its action. In fact, this action is already 2 years overdue.

Ganguly took a big risk here. They're calling Rohit a "bcci captain". Anything less than the cup will mean disaster optics wise for both, hope they're aware of this and don't take any half measures in team selections and preparation.

Also lol @ some people suggesting him to go AB route and fight with the board. Given his awful form, bcci can snatch everything away from him if he decides to push them. Things can go downhill pretty fast in india, he's not bigger than the game

Well, the "they" you are referring to are only Kohli fans.

There is a good section of Rohit fans on twitter too. An article about their reactions:

Kohli should have understood himself that T20 and ODI captaincy is not possible as most of our ODI players play T20 as well.

that assumes he has the usual amount of functional thoughts... which is debatable. he clearly thought he was bigger than the game and is now belatedly seeing that error

Out of the 2 trophies in line for next 2 years, we might win atleast 1

Being bigger than the game is not difficult in a country where there is a super star culture. Where Kohli erred is not having an ICC trophy under his belt and losing to Pakistan in most humiliating way. Look at Dhoni he sucked (as a batsman) since the inaugural t20 world cup which he won and yet he was untouchable for years and he definitely become bigger than the game from post 2013. Kohli is an idiot if he thinks pan Masala series wins counts.

There are fans who may not be qualified as " Kohli fans", but still feel enraged at the treatment meted out to him.

BCCI seems to lack "Real men" in their ranks as what is evident

As neutral fans, this is not what we want to see..one of the greatest test cricketer India has produced and the most successful Test Captain as well treated like this.

His work ethic is 2nd to none, and his commitment and zeal for the game is worth celebrating.

While BCCI never had a good image, its time they  hand over to professional's like they did for the  IPL product.

What treatment? He resigned from T20 captaincy and it isn't wise to have two white ball captains if teams are more or less same. Now I think it's better for him to concentrate on his ODI batting. He is struggling big time in all forms of the game.
