Excellent post. Because of these selfish people the virus keeps on mutating and endangering others. He has a right to not take vaccine and we have a right to keep him away from public places. Selfish SOB.

The whole purpose of lockdowns was to prevent the medical system from overwhelming.

Hospital beds are a limited resource. And COVID is not the only ailment that people need treatment for.

The guy who needs dialysis 3/week can't get a hospital bed because it is occupied by anti - vaxxer who refused to take the vaccine. And when these anti - vaxxers are in hospital, they are there for potentially weeks.

Yes, you can catch COVID after you get the vaccine. But you can recover at home with OTC medication. And not occupy a hospital bed for someone who needs round the clock care.

That's what grates people about these selfish pricks and their entitlement mentality. And low and behold, when a high profile sportsman shares the same entitlement mentality (for different reasons, I wan't my 21st slam, darn the rules), the anti - vaxx crew were like moth to a flame.

The part about "liberties" is a moot point - When you get COVID, vaccinated or not, you are bed ridden with extreme exhaustion. What good are your "freedoms/liberties" than?

Better bored than dead. That's why so many people made so many sacrifices, whether they agreed the vaccinations/lockdowns or not.

An anti-vax Czech folk singer has died after she deliberately contracted Covid to obtain a health pass that would have allowed her to visit the sauna and theatre, her family said.

She voluntarily exposed herself to the virus when her husband and son, both vaccinated, caught it before Christmas, Rek told public radio iRozhlas.cz.

"She decided to continue to live normally with us and preferred to catch the disease than to get vaccinated," he said on Monday.

These are the type of anti - vaxx people that put Djokovic on a pedestal. Selfishness and entitlement doesn't even begin to describe it.

If the Aus govt wanted to deport him, they shouldn't have issued a visa in the first place. They did it for political mileage with an international sports player. They used him as a pawn for general elections this year.

Human like is so important to Australia. That's why they have an uptick in covid cases among the double vaccinated. Even today, one player got corona who was vaccinated.

Issuing visa was un forced error which was aced and corrected.

Quit talking about vaccines because your writing shows your ignorance

Lots of unvaccinated people are also doing fine. and double vaccinated people have got corona. You can check in the corona 2 thread how many ICFers have got corona and they are all double vacced.

80% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated.  What does that tell you.

Federal Court reveals why it upheld decision to cancel Djokovic's visa for second time

The Federal Court of Australia ruled to uphold the cancellation of Novak Djokovic's visa for the second time because Immigration Minister Alex Hawke's decision to deport him was found to be lawful.

The reasons for the judgment, published this afternoon, stated the court does not "consider the merits or wisdom" of the decision, nor does it "remake the decision".

"The task of the Court is to rule upon the lawfulness or legality of the decision by reference to the complaints made about it," the judgment read.

Djokovic's lawyers had unsuccessfully argued Mr Hawke's decision to cancel the visa on Friday was "illogical, irrational and unreasonable".

The court judgment stated the Immigration Minister may cancel a visa if "he or she is satisfied that presence of its holder in Australia may be a risk to the health or good order of the Australian community".

Mr Hawke reached a "state of satisfaction" to cancel the tennis star's visa on grounds that cannot be deemed as "irrational or illogical or not based on relevant material", the judgment said.

"Whether or not others would have formed that state of satisfaction and the state of satisfaction as to the public interest is a consideration not to the point," it read.

The Federal Court judges also found it was reasonable for Mr Hawke to conclude Djokovic was opposed to vaccination.

The tennis star's lawyers had argued the minister had failed to ask about Djokovic's views on the topic.

"We reject the proposition that it was not open to the Minister to find or conclude that Mr Djokovic had a stance that was well-known on vaccination and that he was opposed to it," the judgment read.

"Further, there was no issue but that Mr Djokovic was not, by January 2022, vaccinated.

"It was plainly open to the Minister to infer that Mr Djokovic had for over a year chosen not to be vaccinated since vaccines became available.

"That he had a reason not to have a vaccination at the time of the decision in January 2022, apparently having contracted COVID-19 on or about 16 December 2021, did not say anything as to the position for the many months from the availability of vaccines to December 2021.

"It was plainly open to the Minister to infer that Mr Djokovic had chosen not to be vaccinated because he was opposed to vaccination or did not wish to be vaccinated."

The judgment stated even if Djokovic did not win the Australian Open, his presence in Australia playing tennis could foster "anti-vaccination" sentiment among people who wanted to emulate him.

"The capacity of his presence in Australia playing tennis to encourage those who would emulate or wish to be like him is a rational foundation for the view that he might foster anti-vaccination sentiment," it read.

"An iconic world tennis star may influence people of all ages, young or old, but perhaps especially the young and the impressionable, to emulate him."

Following the ruling on Sunday, Djokovic issued a statement saying he was "extremely disappointed" by the Federal Court's rejection of his appeal, which ended his hope to play in the Australian Open.

While most people seem to accept that the CoViD-19 vaccines (2- or 3-dose regimens) protect against severe disease and hospitalization, they question their effectiveness against infections and transmission, especially after Omicron became the dominant variant.  This is a legitimate question because we have seen so many cases of vaccinated people on this board itself become infected.  Here are some incidence (not severe disease or hospitalization; just incidence) data to ponder:

Lol at calling Australia authoritarian or totalitarian, Russia is invading Ukraine as we speak, and the criticism is on Australia.

So what's authoritarian in Russia invading Ukraine? What Australia doing is authoritarian forcing mandates on their people like China does. Australia is invading their own people.
