what attitude? virus is already spreading without foreign people coming in. Most of Asstralia is already double vaccinated and still spreading the virus. Are you saying this attitude by Aus govt that is contributing to the spread of the virus. If so, I agree :p:

Don't judge my attitude. Just because he is a tennis player makes him more important than you and me.? Bull sheet. He was flaunting the rules, lied on his application and Australian govt. did the right thing. Kick that anti vaxxer SOB out. Respect

Novak Djokovic set to be barred from French Open after major vaccine decision

Novak Djokovic could be barred from defending his title at the French Open as things stand now after the Sports Ministry declared there would be no exemption from France’s new vaccine pass law.

World No.1 Djokovic, who has not been vaccinated against COVID-19, was deported from Australia on Sunday, unable to defend his title at the first grand slam tournament of the year after losing a court case to have the cancellation of his visa overturned.

The French Open is next on the grand slam calendar.

But France’s vaccine pass law, approved by parliament on Sunday, will require people to have a certificate of vaccination to enter public places such as restaurants, cafes, cinemas and long-distance trains.

“The rule is simple. The vaccine pass will be imposed, as soon as the law is promulgated, in establishments that were already subject to the health pass,” the ministry said.

“This will apply to everyone who is a spectator or a professional sportsperson. And this until further notice.

“Now, as far as Roland Garros is concerned, it’s in May. The situation may change between now and then and we hope that it will be more favourable. So we’ll see, but clearly there’s no exemption.”

Serbian Djokovic, who was prevented from bidding to win a record 21st grand slam title at the Australian Open, has refused to vaccinate and was criticised for attending public events last month after testing positive for the coronavirus.

Serb stars blast Novak Djokovic treatment

The entire world will take a different view of Australia as a result of the “catastrophic” Novak Djokovic visa fiasco, according to fellow Serbian tennis star Laslo Djere.

The messy 11-day saga came to a head when Djokovic was deported late on Sunday night, after Immigration Minister Alex

Hawke’s decision to cancel the unvaccinated world No.1’s visa was upheld in the Federal Court.

Instead of preparing for an Australian Open first-round match against compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic on Rod Laver Arena, nine-times champion Djokovic flew to Belgrade via Dubai.

It came amid protests from Serbia that the 20-time major winner had been dealt with appallingly - the calls led by president Aleksandar Vukic and prime minister Ana Brnabic, who labelled Djokovic’s treatment “scandalous”.

Fellow players Dusan Lajovic, Kecmanovic and Djere added their voices of support for Djokovic after their respective first-round matches at Melbourne Park on Monday.

“Not just Serbians, I think the whole world saw it and they probably will have a new or different opinion about Australia,” Djere said, after losing to 14th seed Denis Shapovalov 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7-3).

“I mean, the guy had the exemption and they still deported him.

“I don’t know the details, so I also don’t want to be too harsh. But what everyone could read, yeah, he’s not vaccinated, but we were told that we can enter the country with an exemption, which he had, and yet he’s not here with us.

“Something went horribly wrong. Yeah, it was a true catastrophic situation.”

Djokovic’s deportation ended his Australian Open title defence before it began and left his bid for a record 21st major in tatters.

In the 34-year-old’s absence, Kecmanovic breezed past lucky loser Salvatore Caruso 6-4 6-2 6-1.

“We said that we’re going to give everything we have, try to, say, avenge (Djokovic) in a way, and make him proud,” Kecmanovic said.

“I know he’s our best representative, so it’s definitely a shame that he’s not able to participate and represent Serbia.

“But we’re going to give the best that we can and hopefully we can make up for it in some way.”

Lajovic outlasted Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics 6-3 4-6 6-1 6-7 (6-8) 6-1 to advance to the second round, but had Djokovic on his mind post-match.

“The way they treated him was terribly wrong,” Lajovic said.

“The decision itself was terribly wrong, and also the reason why they did it is also for me terribly wrong because based just an idea, I don’t think it’s the right way.

“I hope that in the future he will be the best tennis player in history and that this will be only looked at as a setback on his path to be the best tennis player to ever play the sport.”

If Djokovic chooses to stay unvaccinated, he is unlikely to be allowed to defend his French Open title in May-June.

It comes after French sports minister Roxana Maracineanu reportedly said sportspeople will need to be vaccinated to compete in the country, following the passing of stricter measures in the French parliament.

Tight restrictions could also rule Djokovic out of the US Open, meaning Wimbledon may be the only grand slam tournament where he competes this year.

Tied with Djokovic and Roger Federer on 20 grand slam titles, Rafael Nadal said he had grown tired of talk around his great rival’s off-court issues, which have overshadowed the Australian Open build-up and early stages.

“I believe that the situation is very clear now,” Nadal said.

kinda a rich that you are judging my attitude and asking me not to do the same (which I never did BTW) :noidea: If you are trolling, you're doing a great job. I think you are a senior citizen and it doesn't look good on you when you use terms like SOB.

Novak is not an anti-vaccer. In fact no one is. anti vaccer is a loaded term to villify someone who don't want vacc. He is not preventing others from getting the vacc. He just don't want it and sees the vacc mandate as a forced method to take the vacc.

Still doesn't justify, faking documents, and going out in public , attending events and spreading it to children even after knowing he was positive, breaching quarantine requirements etc. I agree Australia is to blame fot mishandling this situation, they should've just told him that he is not allowed to play, there is no medical exemption allowed. Actually thats what the federal government mentioned, it was Tiley and Tennis Australia that gave him the false promise of playing and invited him to play with an exemption, it was their greed for money that allowed this to happen.

But Djokovic is by no means a saint, or cleared of any wrongdoing. If Serbia treats him just like any other citizen , they should've tried him for the stuff he did last month.

Both parties are to blame for this mess, and hence the drama. Djokovic should not have been allowed to play according to their country's immigration and travel requirements, but Australia should not have let it go this far and should have made it clear, especially Tennis Australia.

Now that the issue is cleared and sorted, we can focus on tennis.

Something needs to be said about his "spreading". None of the people he met are diagnosed with corona so people are overreacting that he just murdered a baby or something. This is a media build up and those who watch it fall in hook, line and sinker. First off, the people should be going after is the Aus govt, then TA and then Djokovic but the reverse is happening. people are so misled by the media that the aussies who were in tight lockdown forgot to fight the source of the lockdown and just went in to "Hey I'm being screwed with the lockdown and I'm not going to allow a rich entitled and foreign tennis player play an australian tournament who is not getting screwed like us". He had the exemption, he had the visa (even if people think its not fair) but was rejected by the govt. This says a lot about the govt. Now nobody is going to treat an Aus visa the way they used to. Infact most of the world and that includes other westerners are beginning to think Aus govt is a totalitarian hellhole which it is for the last 2 years.

Lying on his application. Refusing to wear mask. And the list goes on and on. Nobody is forcing him to take vaccine. That is his choice. Australian govt. has a choice to deport him and they did. French won't let this liar in either nor will US. Brits I dont know. Human life is lot more important than a silly game of tennis.

Another tidbit -> Polish surnames have mostly "ski" at the end...

Germans and Russians too have the Ski/sky thing going on too in their names. Even a certain :mi: batsman does.

The Polish that I have come across have names that could fetch a lot of points on the Scrabble board. But are impossible to pronounce.

Djokovic had no leg to stand on.

Imagine the sheer arrogance, to be a visitor in another country and to insist that, their rules don't apply to you :thefinger:

Djokovic was the poster boy for the anti - vaxx crew, the same lot who are now flooding hospitals and overwhelming the medical system.

People who got COVID, even after being vaccinated, at least they are able to recover at home through OTC medication. The selfish anti - vaxx pests on the other hand are bleeding the medical system dry. Medical stuff are exhausted dealing with these selfish pricks.

Excellent post. Because of these selfish people the virus keeps on mutating and endangering others. He has a right to not take vaccine and we have a right to keep him away from public places. Selfish SOB.

@Real McCoy  Can you please provide me with the links why vaccination is considered so much dangerous to health from the opponents point of view?

I want to read their arguments and proofs before making any opinion.

There is no proof.  Billions had vaccine and are doing fine. I had both shots still got Delta variant.  I did just fine.

If the Aus govt wanted to deport him, they shouldn't have issued a visa in the first place. They did it for political mileage with an international sports player. They used him as a pawn for general elections this year.

Human like is so important to Australia. That's why they have an uptick in covid cases among the double vaccinated. Even today, one player got corona who was vaccinated.

Look I'm tired to point it out as none of you listened and some of you had to take it for work and travel. My only problem is they are trying to make it mandatory. When they came out with the vaccines, they sold it as a magic potion with 99% efficacy rate and those who take it twice are bullet proof against corona. If that was the case, let those who are scared of catching the disease get the vaccine and those of us who are not scared, live in peace. But no, everyone on the planet has to take it or their movement restricted.

Now, even the double vaccinated are not free to travel as the mask mandates (which were promised to be taken off) are now back on and PCR tests done at every airport even after vaccination. If they are still doing PCR tests, then even unvaccinated people can be tested, no? If found negative, they can also travel.

They are saying the vaccines are only 50% efficacy rate and need a booster and a 4th one. Now they are saying after the 4th, its bullet proof. People are catching on that they will reneg on that promise. It won't be the last one. Also some elitists have spoken that this corona lockdowns and restrictions is the new normal that is the lifestyle we had before 2019 is a thing of the past that we are never going back to. So masks and jabbing constantly is what the govts have in plan for us.

Lots of unvaccinated people are also doing fine. and double vaccinated people have got corona. You can check in the corona 2 thread how many ICFers have got corona and they are all double vacced.

It seems Djokovic owns an 80% share in a biotech company developing a COVID treatment similar to vaccines.

So that's why Djokovic didn't want to take the vaccine or is against them, he has his own business ventures and interests and he doesn't want to indulge or contribute to anything that might hamper his business profits.
