I very much doubt that he has been sacked..Just note the timing..If he was sacked, it should've been done after the next selectors meet unless dada took his own decision and informed Lolli about it directly, which is very unlikely.

he could have been told before the series,if you lose, you go.

Rahane was VC all this year and his position is no longer tenable..Rohit has not captained a test so far...Rahul has been mediocre in one test..Very selfish from lolli

This is because Rahane should not have been VC in the first place it should have been someone like KL or Ashwin or even Gill.

For all the hype: won 1 series in Australia that too in the absence of their star players.

He won’t be captain for the final England test too.

ICC record is self explanatory.

Coming to the positives,  I don’t believe he went and discovered the fast bowling unit all by himself like some of his fans believe ,because Umesh, Ishant, Shami, Bhuvi have been around forever. However his attitude and confidence  definitely rubbed off on the bowling unit while under Dhoni they were just clocking in and out like railway employees (no pun intended)

As a batsman no doubt he is world class.

Just like Kohli made us miss Dhoni now hope it doesn’t get worse with Rahul :wall:

Exactly just one  overseas win. He lost to sa twice, NZ and eng yet to complete a series victory. He is a bit overhyped in test.

THat would've been possible only if we had a successor in place..BCCI is not such stupid to tell this to Kohli without a successor in place.

success is the new/current LOI captain. All about who has power.

Key lessons in life and organizations :-

1) Remain humble and don't ever get too big for your shoes. There is always someone to cut you down.

2) Adapt to the change in management and do not offer an obstacle. Try to be part of the new plans.

3) Try to keep your opinion to yourself when serving a role. Commentary on everything under the sky can be costly.

4) Do not antagonize your supporters. Do not give them advice on how to celebrate your festival.

5) Karma. What was done to Anil Kumble is being done to you. This is how Kal Chakra works. Again, be dharmic / humble.

6) Avoid aligning yourself in camps or creating camps to the extent possible. The winds can change anytime.

Power corrupts all. Leave it before you are booted. Kohli got this one right here. Well done.

Kohli made you miss Dhoni the Test skipper?

As for bolded part,I'm not sure what else he could have done with pacers. Hes not gonna teach them bowling but brought the best in them.

Why would anyone sack him ? He is the most successful Indian test captain ever.

no one cares. Its about who has power.Ganguly wasn't gonna let Kohli run the show like previous admin and conflict was bound to happen.

17th Dec 2021: Ganguly to press: BCCI will deal with the issue at an appropriate time (on Kohli's PC)

15th Jan 2022: Kohli resigns from captaincy a day after saying selectors will decide about Pujara and Rahane

It's a sacking made to look like a voluntary decision.

Within 3 months, Kohli has lost captaincy every where - T20Is, ODIs, IPL and now tests. Life a great leveller as summarised nicely by @ravishingravi
