He is a very average T20 player and strrugles against high quality pace bowling thus will find it very difficult in SENA conditions. But people are so obsessed with him that some are even calling him to take over the Test captaincy from Kohli.. I mean wtf let the guy establish himself in the team first. This concept of carrying out of form players in the playing 11 till they get back to form is beyond me. Rahane should never have played the 3 tests in SA. So too chepu. Give the talent their due. I am all for giving him a chance in place of Purane but why hype him to the tilt before he has sufficient no of matches under his belt? He's worth all the 'obsession' and deserves a proper run, irrespective of his above average T20 stats or the technical issues. From now on, he should be playing every single match across formats for the next 6-8 months. Should be groomed as our number 4 in LOIs. And the coaches should work with him on his leg spin. I have been following DC and this guy always start with 12 balls 8 runs in T20s, kills the momentum and picks boundary in the slog overs. Can only hit spinners. Also, has too much ego.. Running around telling everyone with a face that he should have been the captain not Rishabh Pant. Can't rotate strike unless the ball is full and outside off. So many matches he lost or did zilch even though he took the best spot in the team.. but if there was another Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer is our future. I judge players on how they play first 10 balls.
